I agree. It won't be found on any Elvis CD. That was a complete waste of space. With his entire catalog he does a half ass version of LD? Every version is horrible, imo.

I normally give this song a miss so I've only ever heard two versions - the one on the Moody Blue album , and the version from 1975 on Live In Dallas /Elvis Aaron Presley. Of the two, the '75 version is more bearable. As someone has already pointed out, we have gems like Wear My Ring Around Your Neck, I Need Your Love Tonight, Devil In Disguise, A Mess O' Blues,Wearin That Loved On Look etc never performed live even once and yet we got covers of songs like this. Although I'm not sure I'd want to hear 77 versions of the Presley classics I mentioned.

The version on Big Boss Man is okay to

I think this would be kinda' fun to watch live - Elvis seems to enjoy himself anyway.
But I do think it is a strange song for him to choose to do live...

As a kid I liked this track on the Moody Blue album.....I still do in a way
I still think its overdubbed well for what it is but I dont care for any other versions of this song.

This 31 track compilation released in 1995 is a must. "Little Darlin'" by The Gladiolas is the opening track, and the band is seen in the front and back of the CD :

I can't imagine how the Gladiolas felt. Their 1957 single on Excello 2101 "co-made" it (with the Diamonds release) to #3 on Cash Box's "Rhythm & Blues Top 20" for 5-18-1957. It reached #41 on Billboard's "Top 100" in the 4-20-1957 issue (while the Diamonds hit #2 on the same chart a week later). They would become Maurice Williams & the Zodiacs in 1959, and nab a #1 with "Stay" the following year.

Yeah, there was a bit of uncertainty about how to present rocknroll in the beginning...

Compare it to the Gladiolas recording and you can hear the parody element. The recording was a send-up that became a hit for the Diamonds. And when Elvis added it to his live set in 1975, he clearly did it as a parody of the doo-wop genre.
