Potential hit for next Elvis/RPO release
Not a fan of this guy, but I am a fan of its only love. The beat and tempo is similer to Bee Gees you win again.
..
RPO could use a similar stomping beat to Elvis vocals and turn this into a hit again.
They could also do a new arrangement of Any day now.
And open it with Change of habit with RPO BL type start and big drum finish
I see all 3 as material that will further enhance the Elvis brand and prestige and of course monster sales.
Plus they will pop up at live events and tv.
Hope Priscilla uses them.

Re: Potential hit for next Elvis/RPO release
Greystoke wrote:I can't say that thoughts of what may be on a third album with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is crossing my mind, but Alfie Boe is a marvellous singer and he invested an awful lot more into It's Only Love than Elvis did. This isn't a song that I'm a big fan of, but Alfie`s version is the better of the two, in my opinion. It's more lively and better sung. Although I can't hear those Bee Gees elements you're picking up on, GERRY. Shades of Meatloaf, perhaps.
But I think the chances of Elvis having a hit single any time soon are very slim. Although I wouldn't discount the possibility and I'm sure the next RPO album will feature a single or two. Along with a new video, one would hope. Because videos remain one of the best marketing tools for any artist. And whilst I can't say that a third RPO album is going to enhance Elvis`s prestige or the Elvis brand - since the first two didn't - it doesn't have to if it's going to be good or popular. But I think Sony has a lot to ponder with a third album and how to approach it creatively and commercially when this format is now very familiar.
My take on these albums... priceless to Elvis...
Continuing Widespread admiration and popularity Europe and Australia number ones...success.more projects. ...HBO special probably helped to get the go ahead to be made by ALL of this recent Record setting record breaking new success all thanks to these albums.
Priscilla partly bears the responsibility to keep the high standards on this 3rd release. If they keep it up then another number one fot Elvis and more record s brokem too.
Please make sure that this 3td is the best yet......

Re: Potential hit for next Elvis/RPO release
Elvis sounds focused and engaged on what is clearly, superior contemporary material.
His phrasing of the line "But I know I'll get by, I'll take my heart and my pride, and just throw them aside" is worth the price of admission alone.
The Boe take is a classic example of a technically trained singer falling way short when up against a natural interpretive approach.

Re: Potential hit for next Elvis/RPO release
I must agree on the singer here. But, I can easily imagine Elvis' vocal on top of that arrangement we hear in the video. It's Only Love is one of those early 70' singles I had problems with. I'm not sure a revamp would come off any better, but who knows these days......elvisalisellers wrote:Elvis sounds focused and engaged on what is clearly, superior contemporary material.

And by the way: I'm not sure a 3rd RPO is such a good idea right now. A Christmas/gospel collection maybe....

Re: Potential hit for next Elvis/RPO release
Boes video version was posted just to demonstrate the material the audience and a live setting for this song..
Bee Gees rank amongst the greatest ever hit makers they - Maurice Gibb created that heavy stomping type beat behind their monster smash for a reason. You win again a single that delivered the brothers gibb a new lease of life in their long success story. Brougt them new audience. I have always felt Its only love was good but never made the best of.The vocals are just perfect but the backing not.
It is just waiting to be redone
RPO could redo this and that could be Elvis at number one again in the singles chart England Scotland Australia etc
But the main thing is it would pop up all over on tv shows live events etc
Priceless

Re: Potential hit for next Elvis/RPO release
I have been a big fan of It's Only Love' since the August of 1980 when the single was released in the UK.
It peaked at #3 in the charts.
Legs & Co. put a dance routine to the track on 11 September, 1980 for 'Top Of The Pops'.

Without looking, can you tell me one song in the current UK top 10 singles? And if not, because I certainly can't, can you tell me why any of this matters?GERRY wrote:Boes video version was posted just to demonstrate the material the audience and a live setting for this song..

ALLC has popped up everywhere, appeared on things like Smallville, and recently even a videogame , the Mafia series plus also took its place on the said soundtrack.
These tracks as I said are priceless to the Elvis brand
p.s ALLC take 2=mafia st
But without the remix it is safe to say this track would have remained buried and forgotten, albeit for a short appearance in Oceans 11.
It was the remix that shot this song to the stratospheric heighrs it reached.

Re: Potential hit for next Elvis/RPO release
And what has this got to do with your dream or fantasy world of a Blu Ray release of an RPO Concert. In fact what has this got to do with anything in connection with the RPO. The third and final offering will be sacred and Xmas songs unless they decide against doing a part three.GERRY wrote:Back on topic

Re: Potential hit for next Elvis/RPO release
Another huge single would be great. The single could be on the next RPO album. Released before the album is released.
This could happen on the 3rd or the 4th RPO/Elvis release.
Also I hope Priscilla selects :-
Change of Habit to open it could be the single.
Any day now spliced mix of versions
Edge of Reality spliced mix of versions
Almost in love splice mix of versions
A little less conversation revisited perhaps spliced take.
The next step is love splice mix of versions
Youll never walk alone
im leaving
Patch it up spliced mix of versions
Perhaps the anove tracks will appear on a future RPO maybe the 4th next year.
But this all depends on them not dropping the ball on the 3rd this year.

Oh dear oh dear. There will not be a fourth and your repeated listings are really quite worrying especially when others have told you it will not happen.GERRY wrote:Another huge single would be great. The single could be on the next RPO album. Released before the album is released.

Re: Potential hit for next Elvis/RPO release
A rock series would be fine too doesnt have to be an RPO release.
But while these RPO / ELVIS releases are successful we will get more.
It would be marvelous if Giles Martin could work on an project,,Elvis really admired the Beatles and loved George Martins production comparing it to his own he could see the difference.
Giles Martin and Paul McCartney were influence d by JXL ALLC to create Beatles love.
Paul McCartney loves Elvis and Giles Martin to come aboard the project.
Also Ringo Starr is a genius and it would be so fantastic to have him onboard too.

Re: Potential hit for next Elvis/RPO release
Have you thought about asking Elvis himself. I'm sure he would be able to add some worthwhile input. I heard he was scheduled to visit Abbey Road in the next month. If you're not doing anything for the next few weeks, may I suggest you camp out on the famed crossing just to capture some shots as he walks over the road. You could then suggest that Sony use one of your photos for the sleeve. And a splendid time is guaranteed for all.GERRY wrote:A rock series would be fine too doesnt have to be an RPO release.
