Here's one way to thank someone for being a friend.
Take a pal and confidant over to the new “Golden Girls”-themed eatery, La Rue Cafe, now open for breakfast and lunch in Washington Heights (4396 Broadway): https://www.facebook.com/ruelaruecafe/ .
The cafe is an ode to the beloved American sitcom — which aired from 1985 to 1992 — with retro palm tree wallpaper reminiscent of Blanche’s fancy bedroom, and photos from the show.
Expect fan favorites like Dorothy's salty caramel cheesecake, and a coconut Betty White cake — an homage to the 95-year-old Golden Girl who played the good natured, but hilariously naive, Rose Nylund.
Owner Michael J. LaRue was pals with the late Rue McClanahan, who portrayed the lusty Southern belle Blanche Devereaux, and has adorned the restaurant with memorabilia he inherited from the show.
LaRue told Gothamist cafe hours are 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. and dinner service will soon follow: http://gothamist.com/2017/02/06/golden_girls_cafe_open.php .

HERE'S A SNIPPET FROM THE EPISODE WHERE SOPHIA GETS MARRIED. ROSE MIXED THEIR ELVIS FAN CLUB INVITATIONS WITH THE GUEST LIST. THE GIRLS HAD STARTED AN ELVIS FAN CLUB. I'LL POST THAT EPISODE IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE TO SEE IT. IT'S ADORABLE.
I AM NOT PROMOTING THE IMPERSONTOR WHO POSTED THIS. SIMPLY THOUGHT IT WAS A REALLY CUTE EPISODE.
ELVISLY,

You always knew there was something funny coming when Sophia started her line with;

Blanche (Rue) asked the show for the clothes she wore during filming and they gave them to her. All of the ladies were immaculately dressed. And there was a chemistry between them that was very special.
