However, I think this is about the clearest picture I've seen of this particular award. Elvis on Tour having been the second film Elvis starred in to be nominated for a Golden Globe award. The other being Girls! Girls! Girls!. Which was nominated for Best Film - Musical at the 20th annual Golden Globe Awards on March 5th, 1963. Where it lost out to Morton DaCosta`s wonderful big screen adaptation of The Music Man.

Interesting about the 1962 film, I didn't know it garnered a nomination. "The Music Man" is a wonderful musical.

I've noted elsewhere that directors Pierre Adidge and Robert Abel shared their Golden Globe "Best Documentary Film" award with "Walls of Fire" directors Herbert Kline and Edmund Penney. So there must be four of these! I'll wager the image you posted is from the 2014 eBay sale put up by the late Abel's daughter.

The 30th Golden Globe Award ceremony was held on Sunday, January 28, 1973 at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles. At the time Elvis was at the Las Vegas Hilton, in his suite between shows. Watching from the bathroom when the news broke that "Elvis On Tour" won, he came hopping out, excited over the honor! It was a pretty good January for our guy.

Pierre Adidge and Robert Abel they were nominated not Elvis. The footage is stored in the NBC vaults if it was featured on the broadcast.

A January 2018 box set by Sony Legacy of Elvis On Tour would be
right on time to commemorate 45 years since the documentary's Golden Globe Award! 8)

His record label couldn't even be bothered to commemorate the 40th anniversary of his passing with new product.

So the chances of an Elvis On Tour 45th anniversary Golden Globe Award tie-in are likely to be slim to none.

Is that a rhetorical question?

Maybe, just maybe, they were holding back for an Elvis On Tour box set to be released in early 2018.
And/or perhaps Ernst wasn't given the "green light" early enough in 2017 to have it ready by August.

I'm leaning towards "slim".
A Golden Globe Award sticker on Sony Legacy's official product would look really nice and appealing! 8)

Sorry for the thread crap!

Thread crap?! Not at all. But I don't have any box figures for That's the Way It Is and don't recall seeing any for either its original release or the special edition.
I was able to catch TTWII in theatres when it was rereleased in 2014. I remember being impressed by the turnout !

Say it ain’t so Joe. You mean a 38 year old movie made half a million in a one night showing without anything film wise added. Wow just think what they could gross if they added some unseen outtakes and show it for a week? Somebody ought to suggest that to Warner Brothers maybe they haven’t thought of anything like that?

I don't know. Maybe something was shown in addition to the film on the night. Perhaps as part of Priscilla`s introduction and not necessarily from Elvis On Tour.
If I'm not mistaken, some unreleased rehearsal footage was included for the theaters-only audience in 2010.

That's right EIN did a report on it
You see him in the elevator and then we saw 6 rehearsal songs in the studio with the full band in there with him. Absolutely Magnificent.

The Orpheum had security guards in the aisle of the theatre so there was no way in hell you could even take a photo let alone video.

The following songs were played from the studio rehearsal, Cattle Call, For The Good Times, See See Rider, Bridge Over Troubled Water and A Big Hunk O' Love

It was the very raw material as in straight ex camera-tape footage and parts with heavily distorted vocals (we've seen some on bootlegs, the audio is not good). So it would need major editing to look good on a professional DVD. However seeing NEW Elvis footage on the BIG SCREEN - how exciting is that! - Just Fricking awesome!

I went to see EOT in the theater, but they only showed the movie . . . no Priscilla intro or unreleased footage.

The priscilla intro and unreleased footage was exlusive to the Elvis week screening.

just wanted to update this topic with a quote. Today i was listening to the January 28 midnight show, and Elvis actually mentioned the Golden Globe (or as he calls it Golden Global)
''I've heard on television, i don't know if it's true or not, that there's a group... We did a show last year called Elvis On Tour, they heard tonight they won high ending... it was mentioned a golden global''

That's nice info. EOT did quite nicely. Wonder how did the last years '68 Comeback Special do at the box office?
