For goodness sakes, SOMEONE put the DVD in the player, and let us know how the OUTTAKES look.

Looked at a few, they look the same to me as we had before on the double dvd set.

I believe it, because the upgraded outtakes are slated for WB's Blu-ray release, not the DVDs on the Sony set.

I agree. But I assume Warner would have agreed to your idea to include the Blu-Ray versions since it would undercut warner sales.

- did not buy the 2001 remake
- do not own the 1970 original
- are unaware of TTWII outtake
- see it as a cool gift for the "Elvis fan" they know

I've stated already there should have been a BluRay version of this, it's 2014, not 2001. But beyond this, I bet a big chunk of the Elvis fans buying this mammoth set are also buying the Warner re-issue of the movies in a couple of weeks time.

They wouldn't have to, if these sets included the updated visual masters.

I may be wierd but I will most likely get the box set and the bluray disc but will not play any of the cds or dvds until after viewing TTWII on the big screen on 8/17. After the film I will then go back and watch the bluray and listen to the cds.

What's the sound quality like on the rehearsals/jam CD? Any significant sonic improvements?

I do feel that tracks 1 through 17 sound pretty good, nice in stereo, even with a certain warmth.
So to my ears it's slightly better.

"Farther along", "Santa Claus is back in town" and "Oh Happy day", still sounds pretty "hollow" and mono, the music and singers are in the back, also slightly better sound.

Verdict: this disc is slightly better then before, a nice bonus.

Does anyone know if we get the DVD's in PAL. And more important, the Bluray release. On Tour was released in NTSC format in Europe. So I wonder if the DVD with the original film will also be in NTSC and region free.

NTSC/PAL does not apply to Blu-ray. They are all the same worldwide HD video format. What does matter is the region code, although many releases are multi-region.

I am hoping someone here will be able to confirm that the TTWII Blu-ray is multi-region.
