Elvis Visiting Bobby Smith
This picture was on Ebay, and was part of a Jim Curtin collection. It looks to be from around late 1962-63. Can anyone bring to light who Elvis was there to see in this picture? A cousin maybe? New to me.
UPDATE :
Found an older thread on the topic - It is Bobby Smith in the hospital.

Re: Elvis Visiting The Morgue ( warning morbid)
Would a dead person have their arm up like that in the picture?
It seems odd.
However, its well known that Elvis visited morgues on more than one occasion purely because of personal interest.

Yes that is a bit odd the person may be alive, it just for some reason doesn't look like a bed in a hospital but I could be wrong.Mr Songman wrote:Would a dead person have their arm up like that in the picture?

Yup. What I posted on that topic includes an unmarked, better-quality version of the photo and all the information:promiseland wrote:This picture was on Ebay, and was part of a Jim Curtin collection. It's Elvis' Uncle Travis Smith and his son Bobby, Elvis' cousin and Billy Smith's older brother.
Bobby was hit by a car in front of Graceland in early 1961, severely injuring both of his legs. Bobby had a lot of problems, dying in September 1968 after ingesting rat poison.

This is a fascinating picture in that the whole thing is baffling. Why was a photo taken? Elvis' posture and look are bizarre. Very strange photo.

Re: Elvis Visiting Bobby Smith
It's not a mystery. It's most likely a photographer (with reporter in tow) from the Memphis Press-Scimitar, responding to a report of a Presley relative being hurt in front of Graceland and sent to the hospital. When they arrived, they found Travis, Elvis and Bobby in the waiting area.Delboy wrote:This is a fascinating picture in that the whole thing is baffling. Why was a photo taken? Re: Elvis Visiting Bobby Smith
It's not a bed; it's a stretcher. Back then, ERs were clearly less comfortable.
Not that it's a great place to be even today, but this sure looked difficult. And that's how it was. We take a lot for granted.
