Voted for the same track.poormadpeter wrote:For me it's Frankie and Johnny. It's the one attempt that Elvis made at the Bobby Darin style of using rock n roll phrasing within a jazz/swing arrangement. The early take on Out in Hollywood (IIRC) shows him doing this extremely well, but he seemed to get self-conscious and toned it down for the master, which is a shame. Even so, just for the outtake alone it's a favourite - and another glimpse into what could have been if Elvis had done that album of standards.

I always liked the tracks Easy Come, Easy Go and Double Trouble. They are solid Elvis movie title tracks. Charro is excellent and is in a class by itself.

The moderators should make a new ruling, anyone writing about reporting anyone should be suspended. Particularly over minor crap, Similar to what's been posted in this thread.
It's laughable and over menial nonsense. Some of you seriously need a break from here, take a step back, come back in a couple of months and feel your face getting flushed with embarrassment after reading what you've wrote. A big riddy like this--> Some of you take this forum, far, far too seriously.
It's only a f-o-r-u-m.
Just a few hours ago I was giving my Son's a row for similar behaviour "I'm telling Dad on you, it's my turn on the ipad, Xbox", "He said this about me etc etc" They are both under 10....you know!
Do you carry on like this in your normal day to day life? If you do I bet some of you are pretty much friendless.
Now go and report me for typing the word crap...you know you want to. I know some will be utterly outraged.

I don't actually know, how one goes about reporting a poster, but if I did know how, I would report you, just for the hell of it.daylon wrote:Now go and report me for typing the word crap...you know you want to. I know some will be utterly outraged.

I agree, many of the sets looks like a Batman set.drjohncarpenter wrote:Indeed another parallel to pop-art and the "Batman" phenomenon is the set design of "Speedway," which in several scenes looks like Batman and Robin could pop out at any given second.poormadpeter wrote:I think the success of Speedway was partly because of Nancy Sinatra, and also because it actually seemed current for once - it feels like a film of the swinging sixties in its mad-cap antics, sets etc.

Parker figured out by the mid-60s that the lower the budget, the more money he made.

No, Speedway was an exception. Like Greystoke wrote, MGM invested 3 milion $ in it but the net profit was only around 50.000 $.

Who doesn't love a bit of Shaky, except maybe a few miserable philistines. My vote went to PHS, that one vote it received, is mine.daylon wrote:Wouldn't have expected anything else from the likes of youmike edwards66 wrote:I don't actually know, how one goes about reporting a poster, but if I did know how, I would report you, just for the hell of it.daylon wrote:Now go and report me for typing the word crap...you know you want to. Elvis was in very good voice on the PHS soundtrack, This is my Heaven is sublime, with a truly plaintive and unaffected vocal from the King. Just beautiful:

Coming soon to an Off Topic near you, great new Shaky thread. You know it makes sense.

There must have been a wave of "Bat-itis" going on at MGM during that time.

The shipboard scenes in DOUBLE TROUBLE are clearly patterned after the LONDINIUM arc from season three.
Because, as we all know, Elvis loved Batman very, very much!

Obviously, MGM and Elvis had a kind of synchronicity regarding the Batmania which swept the U.S.!HoneyTalkNelson wrote:The shipboard scenes in DOUBLE TROUBLE are clearly patterned after the LONDINIUM arc from season three.
