Does anyone know the story behind this? Was this one of the nights he rented out the Memphian Theater? Or is it the Ellis Auditorium for the closed-circuit broadcast of the Ali/Frazier fight on March 8, 1971?

If it's March 71, I'm guessing it's for the Ali-Frazier fight. If he rented a theater, nobody else but family and friends would be there. Great pic btw. New to my eyes!

I agree. My son used to do the same thing when he would pose for pictures in his Spiderman suit. But he was five! If only Elvis were doing Spidey's hand sign (sign of the horns  ) he'd look like a real superhero!

What's so sad? He was just probably playing around.

Joe Car, I agree. In fact, I'd almost bet the same superhero thoughts and fantasies were running thru his mind too...

With his classmate Rosemary Baracco at Maywood Beach in May 1953. He's wearing the very same loafers as in the second pic with his cousin, Gene Smith at the Mid-South Fair in Memphis in fall 1953.

Let's see. Cape, yea that was normal. Posing in costumes in front of 'friends' instead of just doing a quiet fitting-check. Hearing the syncophants tell him how awesome he would look in them in On Tour-of course. I can almost hear Joe -you look great good job good job. Parker selling photos shot during this dress up session as tour souvenirs- never miss a chance at a cheap buck. High from medications- how else could you make it through 30 days in vegas. Wife and daughter gone-cue up Captain Marvel to ease the pain. Everything bad that was to come is revealed here. Just sad.

FTD filming: This shot was taken (probably) from july 06 to aug 08, 1961, at Port Paradise Hotel in Crystal River.
