Question for vinyl experts about the rarity of....

Wed Sep 04, 2013 4:36 pm

....the UK "On stage" 1970 LP release. There was a poster included with this album, but does anyone know how limited this bonus item was? Would it just have been included in first pressings only? Exactly how limited was the copy with the poster inside?

To my knowledge it was released in Germany as well with the bonus poster must be the first edition who had this bonusposter. But how rare, I don't know. We had the german copies it in Sweden at the time and the poster was included. The poster was a Picture from the 68 special Elvis in his black leather outfit.

Thanks for the info. It is only recently I have acquired a copy with the poster and the stickered front cover announcing the bonus item. I assume it's fairly rare as many would have been put up on walls and subsequently lost / discarded.

Got this UK promo ad for the album release on the 17th July (1970) with poster.
It states on the ad "only the UK release has the poster" so the German poster may have been added at a later date?

here is a scan of the ad....

The first German release was 28-05-70; the poster was included with the first pressing. It was in the shops late june 1970.

TOTALLY!

Compare the USA bonus items next to the UK and other countries!
here in the UK we had only a few albums with bonus pics etc...I would say it was the UK that missed out and got shafted big time!

USA bonus items....

Thanks for the info everybody. I have just found a copy of the German pressing with the poster for a good price, so I am happy with that. I like the little "On stage" press advert, 'Vegas 74'. Not seen that one before.
I think UK fans were shafted regarding our singles not having picture sleeves until 1969, then we had singles that used exactly the same design!

The army photo came with King Creole - not with G.I. Blues.

HI..this is true, stuck it in there until I find a good copy of King Creole (my cover badly torn)

Good luck finding a nm copy! Nice G.I. Blues anyway: the sticker seems to be in pretty good condition.
