For the things I want to have for the next 30-50 years, I use TAIYO YUDEN CD-Rs.

The Sony discs that have the "Made In Japan" stamp on the label are an out-sourcing of Taiyo Yuden.

Also note that Mitsubishi Chemicals Corporation is the manufacturer of Verbatim and Sony (without Made In Japan on label).

Not much. Once I found TAIYO YUDEN, I just ordered from them exclusively.

The way I read it is that I can not go wrong with Taiyo Yuden, I will give it a try.

Maxell CD-R Pro. Made in Japan (Mr. Yuden)

Warning.....the new production of Maxell Pro's are no longer made in Japan under the Yuden flag. Those ones you should avoid.
