Elvis School Footage 1940s
Hey guys! A while back someone posted about info that there was unknown footage of a young Elvis leaving his school in Tupelo. The only details we know that it's in color with no sound. Apparently someone decided to film the school that day and Elvis was among the kids who came out of the school that day. Sounds unlikely right?
Well check these images, well, actually screenshots of the footage. I do not own them and they belong to the Blue Moon Shotgun Shacks facebook page and have been posted in an album.

NOPE That's not Elvis. Here is the site https://www.facebook.com/BlueMoonShacks Scrole down to see the pics.
WOW, I've never seen these photos of Vernon before, these photos of a very young Vernon sure show where Elvis got some of his looks from, and not just Gladys, especially the first photo, you can see alot of Elvis In that one.

The posters at facebook can be quite misleading. Always good to do further research and verify.

Re: Elvis School Footage 1940s
This is a quote from the poster on that Facebook page claiming he has the film..... This topic was also made on 11/18/12, has anyone ever heard of this film before, because i have not.
This is one of 82 frames from a film that show Elvis walking out of East Tupelo Consolidated School. The film was made in April, 1946. The film maker went to Church Street, Milam, Tupelo High School, and East Tupelo Consolidate School. Elvis was in the fifth grade at East Tupelo Consolidated school.
He is in the film. The film is 16 mm and was shot by a professional. I have the film. For some reason Elvis fans do not want him to be small, blond and an average 11 year old boy. The film maker was not trying to get a picture of Elvis. He was making a film of Tupelo. Elvis was just one of the many children in the film.

Re: Elvis School Footage 1940s
Vibrant colour film like that in the 1940s?
Nope. Any serious fake attempt would at least have degraded the image.

I can certainly see where Elvis got his looks from both parents. I had never seen these pictures of Vernon before. thanks for posting!Clay wrote:Hmmm I don't know, anything is possible, and I would have to watch this film and see very clear photos to be able to give my honest opinion. Sure looks alot like Elvis, he did have very blonde hair when he was a kid, and up until he had it dyed blue black in 1957. https://www.facebook.com/BlueMoonShacks Scrole down to see the pics.

Not really, but I can play a mean version of Red Foley's "Too Old To Cut The Mustard Anymore".

It's not Elvis, but those are shots of his parents new to me. However, they are reversed.Clay wrote:Hmmm I don't know, anything is possible, and I would have to watch this film and see very clear photos to be able to give my honest opinion. These are corrected versions:
One of the above was edited, here's the whole shot:
This one is also seen reversed all the time but I've corrected it here. It looks like same period:

Re: Elvis School Footage 1940s
Wow I thought someone would say that the child in the photo beared a resemblance to Elvis. Guess not. I don't want to convince anyone that it's him because everyone has their own opinion.
1.) Both have same coloured hair.
2.) Same facial structure and position of eyes, nose and mouth
3.) Same ears
4.) Same face expression

I have owned amatuer color footage dated 1939 and 1940.
It was filmed on kodachrome 16mm and the color was just as vibrant as today.
Film if stored correctly can hold it's color, if its the right kind of film .
I have seen this over and over again. Of course I have seen my share of faded film as well.

1. No, they do not have the same color hair. Elvis' hair had darkened with the dawn of puberty. It always remained sandy at the very edges, getting darker towards the top. A reddish tinge to his real hair, excepting the sandy edges, which you'd need a much higher res to see.
2. Definitely not his eyes and mouth. Not in a million years. What about the ears?? I don't follow that. And the nose is not his nose. Close but no Graucho mask.
3. Expression? Naw. What do you mean by expression? Please describe, because I definitely see a different expression. And expressions change, so what does that mean? That is a different boy in the film. I don't either "want" or "not want" it to be him; it either is him, or it isn't. And it isn't.
Whomever owns this film "wants" it to have value. It does not.
The end.
