Aspect Ratio on SMART TV??

Tue Aug 27, 2013 1:48 pm

Weird thing. There are now two such sets in this abode. And I watched an SD film tonight on cable. The newer set crushed the picture, with black bars top and bottom.

Went upstairs to the F6400, 46", and it did it right: 4:3.

I have no idea what setting is is responsible for the discrepancy.

Any ideas? Both Samsung slim 3D TVs.The bigger one is the F7100, 55". A setting is off, but but which one?

Great film: "Lenny" with Dustin Hoffman as the rebel comic.

Thanks in advance.

When I play a DVD with 4:3 picture on my BD-player and smart TV, it transfers to 16:9. It is impossible to change the setting to 4:3.
However, when I rip the DVD to my PC as an .avi and then move it to a USB-stick, which I can insert into my smart-TV, I can see it at 4:3.
Now if only those settings would work when I play a DVD........

Wow!

All I did was go upstairs.

{scratching head}

There is a setting called "all sources." Will give that a try.
