Cool! Great stuff.
No, that's not Boots. Doesn't even look like him. He looks more like the guy that played Elvis' dad in King Creole than Boots

Some fine photos there, Davide !
Alan Fortas : The original script, which high-brow writer Clifford Odets ('Golden Boy') adapted from a novel by J.R. Salamancacalled for Elvis's character to sink into deep depression and commit suicide by inhaling carbon monoxide in a closed garage. That's the way they shot it too, until Colonel Parker issued a veto,so we all trekked back to California in early January 1961, to reshoot the ending so that Elvis's character could overcome his disadvantaged background and in true Hollywood style - triumph over adversity.
No way !

It was the character played by Hope Lange who committed suicide as they originally shot it.

Thanks for the link - interesting about the location used, have you any more info?,as I know your an expert regarding this.
I found dates/details surrounding this period very sketchy indeed, although I did unearth a couple of things from a non Elvis book which I will upload when I get the chance - anyhow thanks everyone for the comments, the original idea was to post just the shots of Pat Boone, and the thing just grew! oh well on to the next one...

I did have a reference to it being 'Wild In The Country',but looking into it a bit more,I think you're right to highlight this. A full frame image alternative in the 60's Masters booklet makes a reference "after a recording session Nashville 61" I'll take it out

Another superb post David. How did this get to two months old with only 14 replies? Maybe you should post your lengthier efforts in "All Elvis" because they deserve to be seen.

Looking through these great photos [thanks again, davide !] something struck me.

As we all know, Elvis was quite a flashy dresser with his Lansky gear and all.

But for film roles, like this one, he had to dress in a more drab style.

Fine while he was in front of the cine cameras, but he also had to pose for still photos with many visitors to the set.

I wonder if he thought "Hey - I hope people seeing the pics realise these clothes are Glenn Tyler's & not mine" !

Also noticeable is how sensible the Hollywood hair was, compared to the rather flamboyant and enormous quiff of several months before.
