Man, at first I thought that was a fake photo. What an ungainly ad for a new single B-side.

"Wild in the Country" only made it to #26, despite being a pretty good song, especially for a soundtrack submission.

Here's a larger version:

Actually, Elvis is Godzilla (of the "Godzilla" films).

No, my interest has always and clearly been the man and his music, but please do keep enjoying the rubber feather fantasies. ;-)

Cool ad, jove.

What makes it interesting for me is the picture they used. It's very unusual and we've seen only one from that photoshoot before... wonder where the original photos have gone?
You can now see both of the shots in here, at the very bottom --> http://elvicities.com/~epss/index.php/W ... untry-1961

Funnily enough, there was also a photo shoot for King Creole that made for some pretty similar shots - like this one which is quite a bit like the one on the ad.
Cool stuff, thanks for posting.

Does your comment mean to imply that the Billboard ad image might actually be a mock-up, which used the original image in your post?

If so, why go to such trouble?

Here are some more interesting ones:

The most interesting thing is the top photo says 'LMT' and copyright Fox (next to Wild also the company that produced LMT of course).
But the comparison to the King Creole shoot also makes sense.

There was no such implication on my post - just an observation.

It's an unusual shot to begin with and I thought it was interesting how there's still another pretty similar one. The key-word here being unusual, as obviously we know A LOT of the photo shoot photos are pretty similar... but that's not exactly a pose Elvis was known for, is it?

Thanks for the very cool additions, Bob!

Thank you, Bob!

And how about this, Elvis in a Charles Atlas body.
