No, but I SEE him as a historical figure. :P

Honestly: no, I don't. He's my idol. And I love him very, very much.

Well, say enough to wallpaper a whole room with Elvis posters - even some with the upper part of the body nude.
I love to look at his face, listen to his voice. And even though I prefer women, I think he was a handsome lad.

Elvis is a hobby. An expensive one, but a hobby nonetheless.

And that's the way it is.

historical only in the American pop cultural sense, which fascinates me.

Elvis is clearly someone that made history, rather than someone who was part of history.

In other words, Elvis was not inevitable whereas much of what followed him was.

Well, I was alive when he was alive, so not for me.

But sure, in many ways, he certainly is. It all depends on context and circumstance. My blog focuses on "history." (Oh, just be patient; hit a significant research snag, but it will be worth the wait!) What he did helped to change history, but his story REVEALS some fascinating history. Which is why I have to take my time and get some things right.

To me, all history lives in the world now.

Elvis historical like George Washington,Ghandi, Mac Arthur or even Martin Luther King? No!

First and foremost i see Elvis as a great artist/singer!
Second, great philanthropist and human being who broke
a lot of (social) barriers (status quo) without knowing it.

But that was not his primary goal in life!

Elvis as a historical figure? IT'S A NO BRAINER! If there was ever a figure than not only challenged but CHANGED things as a whole, it was Elvis. Using the most universally compatible mediums.....Music, Emotions and the very core of what we really are.....HUMAN! He reached THE WORLD. His cultural influence far exceeds just music. It brings together EVERYTHING! Just by his presence, actions and humility. Future generations will WITHOUT A DOUBT consider him one of the all time greatest historical figures. We won't be around to see it, but mark my words.

Elvis is a historical figure
He was one of the first who changed the miusic in the 50's completely
Even 36 years after his death he's frequently in the news
The way he changed the music, his charisma, and above all his love for his fans has never been repeated.
So for me he is a historical figure
