The Flame Suit

Sun Mar 17, 2013 3:54 pm

Hi,
Here's some pics of the Flame Suit
According to Stein Erik Skars' "The concert Years" Elvis used it only twice:
10.20.76 South Bend, Indiana.
10.26.76 Dayton Ohio.

Somehow this seems strange as two Flame Suits were made?

He had two. They hung in a closet for two years. He wore one of them just long enough to decide that he hated them.

Not one of the better designs

Seems as though he purchased several suits within a short time period. The studs and stones were being replaced with elaborate embroidery. The Peacock, Tiger, Dragon, Arabian, Sundial appeared in '74, with The Chief following in '75.

So were the flame suits made during the embroidery suits of 74 and 75 and never worn until 76 or were they the last suits ever made that he wore? If they were made during 74/75 then the blue Bicentennial prehistoric bird suit was the last suit ever made (that he wore).

The "Flame" suits were the last "new" ones he wore before his death. Both Bill & Gene Doucette have confirmed this. Personally, I love the design of the "Flame" suit. He seemed to look much thinner in these suits.

I always liked them too. Did he wear both of them or only one of them?

Though it looked like it fit him better than some of the other suits,
it get's my vote for the most ugly of all his jumpsuits.
