I'm still miffed it does not cover the late 70's & early 80's era recordings from artists such as "The Masked Orion" and Rita Remington.

You are welcome. Can you believe how many great songs and artists are on that box?

It's a treat for any fan of Sam Phillips and his blues, R&B and gospel recordings from 706 Union Avenue.

I must admit they sure look fantastic. Unfortunately I don't have the wherewithal... ;-)

Looks fantastic but not an essential purchase for me. It is already quite expensive to keep the Elvis collection up to date (audio wise) and I stopped collecting books and other stuff decades ago. Since this is all PD material (and most likely no royalties are paid to the artists or their relatives), I may go for a free download. Downloading for personal use over here is as legal as PD law itself so I see no moral problem here.

The box sets look fantastic but considering that the material is PD nowdays the price of over 125 euros per set seems high. If they were a little less expensive I would go for them.

Yes, it's $197.94 from Amazon US, with the release date put back to March 19:

It's already out in the UK and just a little cheaper from Amazon UK than from the Bear Family site:

Man, I'd love to have that set! I have a set of the Ricky Nelson Bear Family box that someone traded me (for something that I had that I don't remeber now what it was) and I love the music on it.

No doubt these boxes will be stellar, but since I can't afford such luxuries right now, I'm very grateful for getting a beyond reasonably priced copy of Sun Records: 50 Golden Years, Commemorative Collection. (8 cd) Amazingly, track for track, it is no less potent than any other Various Artist Sun collection I own. Incredible mix covering lots of obscure gems across the genres covered in the Bear Boxes.

It blows me away every time I put it on. Would still be well worth getting a used copy...

I have some CDs from "Disky":

The Ultimate Memphis Country Collection Vol. 1 (2 CD)
The Ultimate Memphis Rockabilly Collection Vol. 1 (2 CD)
The Ultimate Memphis Rock & Roll Collection Vol. 1 (2 CD)
The Ultimate Memphis Rockabilly Collection Vol. 2 (2 CD)
The Ultimate Memphis Rock & Roll Collection Vol. 2 (2 CD)

There's also some pretty good stuff on it, especially an outtake of Jerry Lee Lewis' "Put Me Down", which I really cherish and love.

Unfortunately I never managed to get Vol. 2 of the Country collection.

What you can do is wait until the Bear boxes show up on eBay or amazon marketplace, mostly in pretty good condition and for a cheaper price.
