Just found this candid of Dixie and Elvis, at her folk's house before he escorted her to the prom.

Elvis left his current tour to take Dixie to the South Side High School Junior-Senior Prom.
Dixie was in her third year.

From some notes I recently made regarding Elvis' round trip to see Dixie:

The distance from Mobile (where EP was) to Memphis is approximately 320 miles. The distance from Memphis to Daytona Beach, where Elvis was scheduled to play on Saturday 7 May, is about 770 miles.

I think he loved Dixie very much indeed ...

On the other hand, can you imagine the disappointment of those who went to see Elvis in Birmingham on Friday, May 6, 1955, and only got Scotty and Bill?
