Hampton Roads AS was filmed - Evidence!

Tue Feb 12, 2013 7:58 pm

Utimate proof that the hampton Roads afternoon Show was also filmed
I attached a screen shot from the hampton Roads AS, yeah its pretty far away, however you can clearly see a camera next to elvis. The footage shows the camera filming elvis and then filmed into the audience, like they did quite often in EOT, If know what I mean, like greensboro when he sang "funny how time ..." and they film him from the side and then film into the audience to chatch their reaction to Elvis. 8)

Yes, there were cameras on the stage that afternoon:

But according to research by our own davide:

Hampton Roads : The crew rehearsed the moves (that Elvis made on stage) during the matinee and filmed that night, then Abel rushed the film to Hollywood where he had it developed, meeting the Colonel the following day in Charlotte to show it to him, without sound on a 16mm projector. (Colonel Parker had yet to give the official go-ahead)

We may never know just how much MGM footage from March-August 1972 is in the archives. A shame.

It's about as solid as those versions from 1977...

Thank you for posting it up, though.

IMO,They could have done a better Job capturing his moves during, Polk Salad Annie, as great as it is, they miss some of the moves...maybe there are better Camera angles waiting to see the light of day.
