Karen Carpenter : 30 Years Later

Mon Feb 04, 2013 11:38 pm

A special tribute clip to the "beautiful girl with the angelic voice", who left this earthly plane way too soon (30 years ago today). Enjoy.

What a great voice.

I can't believe it's been 30 years already.

I remember hearing about her death on my mail route back in 83.

Time goes by so fast.

The main reason people talk about the Carpenters now is because of Karen's deeply soulful voice.

No one in pop music today comes across the way she did in the '70s.

Thanks for the remembrance.

My wife (at the time) loved her like I loved Elvis. She wept like a baby over her death and we had been concerned about her appearance. God rest her soul.

A beautiful voice, as close to perfect as we'll ever hear.

"Greeting cards have all been sent, the Christmas rush is through." Best line, imo.

One of the greatest female singers of all-time imo, she had a beautiful voice.

Wonderful voice and of course, don't forget the great production and arrangements by Richard. This is a great song featuring Karen's drumming; this actually segues into the next song on the album too featuring Richard singing.

Here you'll find an article published in "People" magazine, shortly after her passing:

Thanks. I first read it decades ago and haven't seen it since. I know the manner of her death changed the policy here in the States regarding the free dispensing of syrup of ipecac with no questions asked. It's not quite that easy to obtain now, and maybe it saved some people. You never know.

Terrible loss.
