On Stage, Philadelphia 1957 !

This shot has to be from Philadelphia, April 5 or 6.

Anyone know more?

Shoot, you're right. The Fender Bass started with the 1957 summer tour. The photo I found is not great quality, but the curtain does seem a match for the shows in Philadelphia earlier in the year.

So it's either from April 5 (Friday) or April 6 (Saturday). If anyone knows more, please share.

Cool shot. I think that's only the second one I remember seeing of him in Philly wearing the gold jacket. Most of the others are the black one.

Nice find Doc, never seen this one before.
And I agree with James, only the second one in the gold suit from Philly.

Darn, I never noticed that that photo was from Philly and I have had "Echoes of the Past" since February 16, 1979.
Had to pull the book out and guess how surprised I was to find another shot from this show. You missed that one Cristi
I had to check the microphone from all the other shows and it seems this one is indeed from Philly.
I first thought it was from Tupelo but on that show his hair stayed in place in all photos I have which it doesn´t in this one. Here it´s the same as in the photo that was posted earlier by davide

Elvis did four sets in Philly in 1957, my guess is the black suit/black shirt photos are show #1 on April 5, and perhaps the ones on this topic, in the gold jacket/black shirt are from show #3 on the afternoon of April 6.

Newspaper reports indicate Elvis wore a gold jacket/white shirt combo for the last appearance, show #4.

Well, i didn't miss it, i look at the mic and looks familiar, but i didn't look in my Philadelphia folder, i just put the photo in another folder for a later close look.
But now i know the date, it's great, now we have 3 photos with gold suit.

About the black suit, i think you're right, Doc, almost all the photos we have are black suit, and usually in the '50 most of the photos come from the first show, the reporters must go to write their reports for morning papers, they have no time to wait the second show.
I don't know about gold suit, i must look in Alan Hanson's book and some reviews.

And another prove, in 'The Philadelphia Inquirer' from April 6, 1957 (courtesy of James V. Roy) we can see a photo in black suit, so it's clear now: black suit = April 5.
