Elvis at "Holiday on Ice" show, Ellis Auditorium, Thursday, March 10, 1960

Original caption from the Memphis Press-Scimitar:

Elvis is seen with (Right) Gloria Kaye Mowels, 17, the daughter of Mrs. Gloria Mowels. Gloria Kaye was one of a group of nine or 10 girls, in addition to several young men, who accompanied Elvis to the ice show. She is a veteran Elvis fan and got her name in the paper two and half years ago when her leg was hurt in the melee at Elvis’ Tupelo fair show, and again when she was among those who rushed to the Graceland gate the night he got his draft notice.

If not, this one's for bripet56 and his website:

Yeah I know. I have some problems with my website which now resulted in a black page on this subject.
I am working on a new site and hopefully it will be better and easier to work with than the one I have online right now.
I´m no expert on websites so please bear with me and I shall see what I can come up with.

Sincerely

Cool photo, I saw it in the older thread. Any idea who the women are in the photo? In David English's 'Welcome Home Elvis, 1960' Elvis attended the show with an unidentified woman.

Possibly Elisabeth Stefaniak?

David took that detail from the original newspaper article.

The gal in the shot is not Elizabeth (Stefaniak) Mansfield. Here she is with Elvis, just months before, in Germany:

Agreed, Doc, the girl in the photo isn't Elisabeth (Stefaniak) Mansfield. I was wondering if anyone knew who she was.

I also wondered if the unidentified woman (mentioned in David's book) who reportedly attended the show with Elvis was infact Elisabeth (Stefaniak) Mansfield.

Stefaniak --> Polish surname, finally some Polish association with Elvis. Elisabeth Stefaniak = Elżbieta Stefaniak.

We generally decided it's Bonnie Underwood we see with Elvis, wife of musician and songwriter Charles Underwood.

The girl with Elvis is not Bonnie Underwood. I have the original Memphis newspaper (originally to be featured in the Memphis to Nashville '61 book) and her name is Gloria Kaye Mowels. Here is the original caption:

Elvis is seen with (Right) Gloria Kaye Mowels, 17, the daughter of Mrs. Gloria Mowels. Gloria Kaye was one of a group of nine or 10 girls, in addition to several young men, who accompanied Elvis to the ice show. With thanks

Cool. This page looks to have actually been left out of Welcome Home Elvis 1960, yeah?

Nope - Originally intended for the Memphis to Nashville book, until the direction and content was changed. I didn't have the article or photos at the time that the Welcome Home Book was being researched, but obviously would have been perfect for it.

Interesting, the design matches the earlier work a bit. Thanks again.
