That looks to be a colorized pic of Elvis at Red West's wedding (the original photo is in black & white).

Could it be from the day he arrived, for his benefit show? I recall a recent photo that surfaced of Elvis in his room, with Parker and Wallis. It was posted in this section, but I can't find it right now.
Or perhaps it was between takes, as you note.

That's the one! Different tie, different day.
The tie in my post matches the shot with KPOI-AM DJ Tom Moffatt. Somewhere, there's a story of him hooking up with Elvis on the set, in April. I'll try to find it.
