That doesn't appear to be stage attire... just a casual outfit... his leather stage costumes appeared to be more decorative than this one... anyone have/seen a picture of Elvis wearing this outfit on stage? Just curious...

Elvis Fan - yes, that particular outfit was worn in August - I quite like it!

There was some footage of it too on George Klein's Elvis Memories.

True. I have tried on one of his original suits and it fit me pretty good. And I am a slim athletic guy. It was a strange feeling to wear one of his suits by the way :!:

Wow, really ?

So you'd say you were the same height as Elvis too ?

Isn't one of those leather suits owned by Eddie Murphy, who had to have the trousers taken up a couple of inches so he could wear them ?

My opinion has always been that Elvis's weight is so exaggerated, also here on this messageboard. And when I tried on a suit it certainly was confirmed. I am a couple of centimeters shorter than Elvis :)

I don't agree. Too many here try to act as if he was almost never anything but "slim."

Really?! Show me these posts. Like I said, I am athletic and slim, and the jumpsuit fit me very well.

Arrest him for popping too many perscriptions? Even if he had something like cocaine he wasn't about to flash it in front of the cops. All he had to say is I am sick and here is my doctor if any suspicions were raised. He covered himself well that way.

Couldn't disagree more. The Elvis-suit must be the most famous stage-outfit ever.

I would say it has become archetypal.

So you don't consider Presley's bloated gut being too big for the leather suit a "bad thing?"

Plus, these pictures were most likely taken after a show, and Elvis was probably tired and made no effort to hold his gut in. I don't have a belly at all, but after several hours of physical activity, im too tired to keep good posture, and my belly pokes out a little bit because im too exhausted to keep my stomach in.

Actually, no. Those candids were apparently taken at the hotel before his show at College Park, MD on 9-28-1974. You can see the distension in numerous images from August and September, and the infamous performance that evening reflects the unwell state of the man we see here. Tough times.

I've seen a lot of people who were "out of it" by using drugs and they didn't look any other than Elvis did on these photos. No pun intended, but all the people who wear rose-colored glasses: Go back and watch the photos again, listen to the show(s) from College Park that/(those) day(s) and have a closer look on the "on stage" photos that were taken and than tell me/us that he only looked tired after givin' his all in the shows. Those were real, big troubled-times for Elvis. I really love that guy, but hell it really hurts to see him this way and to listen to him in this condition.

Elvis gave this leather "Wine suit" to David Stanley....

No, but he got to use a bunch of photos he didn't have the rights to use in his book.
