A Candle For John's Mother

I'm so very sorry John, my sincere condolences.

Please try to remember that she is in a better place now, young and happy, and is no longer suffering.

Your mom will always be alive and with you in your heart and your memories.

My sincere condolences to John and his family. My thoughts are with you during these difficult times. I lost my mother nearly 30 years ago but she's still in my mind and in my heart.

I hope you know, John, that you are in my thoughts and prayers at this time. I wish I had to the words to express how deeply I sympathize with you. But since words often fail, I will post a photograph of the memorial candle I lit at midnight on Christmas Eve, for my mother, who passed away in 2008. I took this photo, a few weeks ago, with no intention to share it. (It is not in our religious tradition to light a candle on the birthday of the person, but it's Christmas - which was her birthday, and so we do it.)

The candle-holder depicts family and friends of many generations surrounding the flame of memory.

I have decided to share this photo, now, in honor of your mother, John. Thank you for all you've done. My mom would be grateful to your mom for bringing up such a fine young man, who was so nice to me (and who helped bring me into the 21st century!):
