Rightfully he was called "Pandit" - a term indicating supreme musical mastery.
He was blessed with a talent that was of the highest kind.
George Harrison was blown away by the virtuosity, humility and wisdom. There was no arrogance to endure, just a warm spirituality that made folks around him feel great about themselves. Maybe a bad word was said about him at some point, but I've not heard any. When George himself was in his last hours or minutes, it was Ravi Shanker, the maestro's daughter Anoushka and Hindu monks who played the music that George wanted to hear as he left the world.
