Interesting and thanks. That sounds like it's running at a faster speed than the one uploaded a few years ago. Might one of these be running at a incorrect speed or did James record it twice and release it on a single? What do others think ?

I uploaded the first video. The audio I used, was taken from the CD You Heard It Here First! (The Original Versions of Famous Songs). It has a different mix than the original 1968 single.
"This is a different mix to the Scepter 45. Horns and strings on the choruses are really prominent where they are hardly audible (if they're even there) on the single." -- Youtube member gramballard replying to my video.
The main reason I put it on Youtube is that the other video doesn't feature the complete song.

I am often amazed by how so many Elvis fans fail to appreciate the original versions recorded later by Elvis Presley. Of course it's a waste of time to compare James version to Elvis. The likes of Mark James (or Dennis Linde) was'nt in the same league as Elvis. You (and others) just need to forget (or try to) hearing and comparing Elvis version for just 3 minutes to truly appreciate the original Mark James record.

sometimes the original is better, sometimes it's not. that goes for all songs that any artist has ever covered, not just Elvis. in this case, I just don't think the original is better

But EP thought so. He used virtually the same arrangement on his 1969 cut.. Try forgetting Elvis version for three minutes and appreciate that James was just a songwriter with limited vocal ability.
