Elvis Christmas album

Sat Dec 08, 2012 8:40 pm

In my copy of the song white Christmas on the 1950s Christmas cd Elvis laughs and there is studio chatter at beginning .. Is that in the album as released in the 50s

IIRC it was not. The studio chatter + count-in was added to the 1999 CD version. Maybe on earlier CD releases too.

Thanks. What is iirc? Also, Is the Elvis Christmas album the same as it was released in the 50s in every other way other than the count in?

Could someone pm me this version of "White Christmas" in FLAC or WAV as I don't have the 1999 version, please?
Thanks in advance :)

Apologies for asking this in this thread, but do RCA/Sony/ FTD have any material from these sessions for an FTD release?

Thanks

There might be a slight difference in the mix otherwise no.

"White Christmas" with the chatter and count-in was first released by RCA on their 1985 green vinyl reissue:

Sure was great to get that "restored to mono" release back then. I bought two copies. One which I play once each Christmas season. The other is still sealed and stored safely away.

Nice to have, it's just a little bit of studio banter found at the beginning of the master reel. All other session reels are either 'lost', 'destroyed' or 'in the hands of a very selfish person'! :P
What's the best source for "Silent night" without the botched / clipped intro these days?

You mean with the Piano Intro :D

"Silent Night" with the piano intro. is available on the "Complete Masters" and the Franklin Mint set. This Christmas Sony has released "The Classic Christmas Album," which has "Silent Night" with the piano intro. I've seen this set in several stores for around $7.00.

Unfortunately, "Christmas Peace" and "Elvis Christmas" (8869700933 2), both still on the market, have the piano intro missing.
