Baltimore, Nov. 9th 1971 - Super 8 film Ebay auction

Hi folks,

actually a Super 8 film of Elvis' show in Baltimore on 11/09/71 is being auctioned on Ebay. According to the seller, the silent footage is unreleased and runs about 5 minutes and 30 seconds. The condition of the films is announced to be great with almost no colour fade. Elvis can clearly be seen all the time.

I believe it's this is the very same footage which is mentioned in Kieran Davis' excellent book:

shot without sound from near the front row just right of stage centre. The footage varies from full body to waist high shots, so Elvis' facial expressions as well as the action are clear to see. Running time 7 minutes.

Low generation, it may not be the original film but it looks great, i have requested a few second video sample lets see i if he gets back to me

Or is it high generation? I meant low in the sense that it would 1st or 2nd generation, not like 8th or 9th. (1 < 8 )

It would almost not matter what generation this is as unlike video the image only degrades as to the quality of the copy of the film. Many reels of silent footage were sold via fan clubs throughout the 70's and I am sure into the 80's. I would bet you are buying a copy of the film and not the actual original shot item. Still I have seen film copies that are very, very good. It would no doubt transfer to digital media very well- IF DONE PROPERLY.
Just my opinion though.

Info not mentioned on Ebay...This film was taken by BALTIMORE ELVIS FAN "BILL KAVEL" also a Police officer in Baltimore.

The film does contain great close up moments of Elvis, the color is not saturated, giving Elvis a slightly Ghost like facial image. The brightness is not over done, so Elvis' features / expressions are seen very clearly. The 100foot being offered is all that BILL Took that day.... he also took some photos.... Bill had 2 of these signed by Elvis on the reverse so I guess he took a complete roll of film (maybe 24 prints) ?

The bidding has gone too high. You're talking about a 5 minute SILENT piece of film from a cine camera of Elvis at one of his many many 1970's concerts. It's hardly the "Pied Piper of Cleveland".

im sure it will go for a lot more than that, Rare 1971 footage it was this year a 3 min reel of MSG went for US $1,200.00

wonder if a better audio source exists than what is on bootleg we have which quality is un listenable.

or evan better a soundboard i bet the bootleg CD we have of Baltimore is many copys down from th original
