(I will try it, and hope it imports all my little doo-dads, buttons, bookmarks, etc., just so. And only, of course, if it runs on Win7.)

Ok. It will run on 7, but right now it's a "release preview." So, it's not a final product for Win7, but it soon will be. Should be of interest. Since I don't have a touch screen, I'm not sure I need Win8 at this point. I just got 7, and it works like a charm. If it ain't broke . . .

yes it is the worst one

There was a period in time where Firefox was having resource/hanging issues, mainly due to the plugins which were the cause of almost all of those problems. Firefox without those additional plugins has always been fast and reliable. But they now have a different plugin architecture and those issues are mostly if not completely resolved. It still is a bit of a memory hog though but it is still one of the fastest browsers.
