Always keep them in a controlled environment, never put them in places such as an attic or basement.

Ikea also offers accessories for the shelving units, like drawers and cabinet doors. So they are quite versitile.
It is a great investment, I have access to all my records without stacking boxes, or thumbing through boxes. It really cleaned up my space, significantly.
