Oh Goodie Goodie ! What a great way to sendoff 2012. Now I have 3 nicey official Sony/FTD releases to look forward to in the coming weeks. (PFAP, 3000 South Paradise Rd & Back In Memphis)

I'm sure "FEIM" will soon follow sometime in the new year since FTD producers are obviously going through all the '69 session tapes.

wow not only is the 4th August rehearsal immensly 'interesting' but also its running time of nearly 77 minutes is also 'very impressive' indeed!~ what a winner and what a fantastic FTD release to look forward too. a few years ago i would have never in my lifetime expected to ever have been hearing a release such as this!~ 8) :D
When FTD releases this kind of product...... it surpasses the Bootleggers in an incredable way!~ :P

Looking forward to these releases! And what a great cover of 3000 south paradise road!

But wasn't the show on August 11, DS, 1972 previously released as the "imports" Blazing Into The Darkness (there's an error on the cover, it says: August 11, 1972 DS but it is August 12, 1972, DS) and Hilton's All Shook Up? Bummer! i have Blazing already for ten years in my collection.

I guess that's why FTD will release the “3000 SOUTH PARADISE ROAD” release with the bonus songs, so to make it up for fans who have the boots already?

An astounding YES ! I would'nt even consider buying "SPR" if it were'nt for the bonus rehearsals.

Good eye, Ken. I didn't notice that.

So which is it supposed to be . . . Dinner or Midnight show?

GREAT news, indeed! Will be purchasing both of the CD's. Hopefully they will both be released in December and not delayed. As was stated above, a lengthy rehearsal is most interesting. I'll be glad to give a bit on the sound to get the material. IMHO, once again FTD comes through!

Thank you, Rich. Despite the typo, it’s the dinner show, previously released on bootleg as Blazing into the Darkness.

Guys, the concert is the bonus disc. The real release is the rehearsal. This is the case even though it’s placed on CD 2.

Getting all three - hopefully before Christmas!!

Re: The New FTD Cd's

Tue Nov 06, 2012 11:56 am

It seems to me that FTD is doing bonus tracks from the Memphis sessions based upon the singles primarily. I would have to guess that "Mama Liked The Roses" + any outtakes will be the only bonus track to be included along with "From Elvis In Memphis," given that Chips wanted that in place of "Power Of My Love" on the album. It seems FTD paired up "Suspicious Minds" on "Back In Memphis" with the B-Side, already featured on the album, "You'll Think Of Me."

I would have to guess then that FTD will likely do album treatments of both "Let's Be Friends" and "Almost In Love." Since "Almost In Love" already has the B-sides "Rubberneckin'" and "My Little Friend," I would have to presume then that those masters and outtakes along with "Don't Cry Daddy" + any outtakes and "Kentucky Rain" + outtakes will be included on "Almost In Love." Since "Let's Be Friends" features "If I'm A Fool (For Loving You)" and "I'll Be There," I would have to think that the outtakes of those along with the other two remaining album tracks from the Memphis sessions, "Hey Jude" + outtakes and "Who Am I" + any outtakes would likely then be included on the FTD treatment of "Let's Be Friends." Does that make any sense?

But those CD's...

Great releases indeed and all no-brainer for me. Too bad that FTD apperently does not own the Opening Night on soundboard, since that would make a great couple with the rehearsals on SPR but this is a very interesting set as well (although I do own Gravel Roads All Shook Up). Back in Memphis is a set I will thoroughly enjoy and as always I buy the vinyls for sentimental reasons and because they sound so great.

BACK IN MEMPHIS looks like a winner to me. I don't know why FTD releases live shows in the Classic Album format, but nevertheless it's great to get the rehearsal session. Maybe they even manage to release it in the correct speed.....
