Me, too. He looks so much better in the shirt/trousers outfit than the jumpsuits. the mind boggles why he continued with the latter.

3000 South Paradise Road

Here is the cover of the upcoming December 2CD by FTD, dedicated to the August 1972 Las Vegas season.

This 2 disc 7” 16-pages booklet release, takes a closer look at Elvis’ engagement at the Las Vegas Hilton in August of 1972. The main disc is from the dinner show on August 12, and the second disc is culled from the rehearsals on August 4th, the date of the opening of the engagement.

As with “48 HOURS TO MEMPHIS”, this release has been prepared by Robert Frieser and Hans Slebos, who once again has done a fabulous job of collecting information and materials for the project. There will be additional information in the next few weeks.

“3000 South Paradise Road” provides a unique experience of Elvis rehearsing, 6 hours before the opening night at the Las Vegas Hilton on August 4, 1972. As disc 2 is captured on a personal tape recorder, the sonic quality is below standards, but historical significance more than compensates for its audio limitations. Disc 1 is a soundboard recording.

I agree - it's been a long time coming.

But I'm kind of surprised that "Suspicious Minds" is the only bonus track.

you got that right :D all the whiners and moaners should now be pleased, what goes around comes around, some have such little faith in FTD, I suggest those who tore HITS OF THE 70`s apart should re-consider there position and buy a copy for a family member for Christmas!!

That's for sure. The 2 piece outfits really looked the business.

The 2 cd's will be added to this fans collection, just in time for Christmas, hopefully.

Yep....the highlight for me.
I wonder if the bad language is included......or maybe he just says see see rider when the take
is messed up. (after editing by ftd)

I wonder when in december they are released....could be that most of us wont get them until after xmas.....slow post and many closed days during holidays.

Better this than nothing

Maybe if they put all bonus tracks w/ outtakes + From Elvis In Memphis w/outtakes, there'll be so much material so they'll make From Elvis In Memphis vol. 1 &2

I also wonder why there's no Also Sprach Zarathustra as it was recorded and released on bootleg?

Yes ....but looking at the content seems to be that discs are full......almost 80 minutes.
There isnt any less outtakes of FEIM album......most likely more counting all the bonus tracks....so perhaps FTD should make another volume with 69 outtakes.

I expect very little is new to us.....at least sound will be great.

There'll be 2 volumes of GI blues as there were 2 of jailhouse rock, so with so many alternates left, plus undubbed masters, there's maybe room for 2 volumes of From elvis in Memphis

The Back In Memphis tracklisting asks some interesting questions from the fans. With only Suspicious Minds appearing as an additional master (and session), where will sessions for the likes of Kentucky Rain and Don’t Cry Daddy appear? Also, recordings such as Rubberneckin’, My Little Friend, and If I’m A Fool. It points towards more than a simple 2-Disc From Elvis In Memphis title in the future. Intriguing!

The 1972 title looks like it will be a very nice presentation, though I will await reports around sound quality for both the show and rehearsal.

Overall I’m more than a little pissed that Elvis Sings For Children And Grown-Ups Too! is not a part of this update. After the recent flagship release that is Hits Of The 70s I had high hopes the label was finally moving in the right direction.

Bits and pieces that didn't make the classic albums for many reasons, from the outtake of if you think I don't need you that is on the LP version to Promised land take 1, could be used on classic album versions of a legendary performer volumes 1 & 2.

matthew, you forget that Suspicious Minds is a bonus track, and so will come from a 1976 live performance, and not the original studio master. It's a bonus after all, so it can just come from anywhere, right?

As for the other 1969 tracks you mention, like others, my guess is that there will be 2 volumes of FEIM.

The other option would be that Kentucky Rain and Don't Cry Daddy are on the FEIM release, and that Let's Be Friends and Almost In Love are going to get the classic album treatment, and round up the soundtracks and leftover Memphis cuts (I'll Be There, Rubberneckin, Mama Like The Roses, If I'm A Fool, Who Am I and My Little Friend) that way. I'm not against this route particularly, as there is much to enjoy in the stay away joe, charro, trouble with girls, LALLAL and Change of Habit soundtracks and the Memphis material. And those two camden albums are actually more coherent and better musically than many of the full price 70s albums.

Yes, because Back In Memphis was a hits collection spanning many years, and a variety of recording dates and locations (studio, live).

They can't fool you!
