One only needs "Christmas Peace" or the 2 original Christmas albums. Ridiculous overkill of the same 20 songs being re-jigged every flippin' year.

is it the re-packaging you object to or keeping it available for Aunt Hazel to buy?

People don't buy CD's any more in general as there are virtually no shops in the high street to buy them from, so any 'casual' music fan will have to log on to the internet to buy and I suspect most 'casual' music fans would not be interested in buying a CD with only 17 of Elvis' Xmas songs on, when you can already buy several that feature all 20 (or 21) of them. These are produced for the hardcore ELVIS collectos who, for some reason, feel there is something missing from their life if they don't own all 128 Christmas re-issues and re-packages with the exact same songs on.

CD sales may still be on the decline, but the continued assumption that CDs don't sell anymore is nonsense. Especially when CD albums still outsell digital albums -- with over 200 million CDs sold in North America in 2011, and almost 90 million CDs sold in the UK in 2011. The ratio of CD albums sold to that of digital albums is around 2/1. The trend is shifting, with some artists closer to the 50/50 mark, but CDs remain viable and popular.

She's very, very popular and has been hugely successful the past six years, or thereabouts. And although it's an achievement in itself to sell a million copies of an album these days, or find genuinely high singles sales, there are exceptions and many groups and singers who are chart-mainstays and popular at the tills -- both in store and on-line. Taylor Swift is definitely one of them, with sales in the region of 20 million for her first three albums, and her latest garnering tremendous sales thus far. Good for her . . .

With a nice cover like that I'm sure that even casual Elvis fans will pick it up.........................even the "Elvis Presley Christmas Duets" CD here in Canada didn't even have a picture of Elvis on it.......................a great close-up of Elvis will sell better than just the name "Elvis" on it......................whoever is making these decisions should be shot.........................I think they need some gals in there picking out cover pictures.....(look at all the fabulous pictures of Elvis available!!!!)............there's been some pretty krappy (cover pictures) ones over the years..................(also some good ones!)...........................

p.s Ernst - when I retire next year I'll have time to go thru thousands of tapes to find some Elvis outtakes.................I know Elvis' voice immediately!!!!.................

a fan since '56................................

Let's not forget the demographic we're talking about here.

Elvis also did this in his prime, (quite a few times), so it's not something that hasn't been done before.

Taylor Swift appeals to predominately young girls, her videos in constant rotation on Mtv, Vh1, Fuse and CMT. You can't go thru 30 minutes of listening to the radio without hearing one of her god awful songs.

On the way to work this morning, they even played her latest, "Never Ever" on Sirius radio !!! Geez ...

I would agree minkahed, and elvis did it at a time when the world was a much different place!! Everybody is entitled to there opinion on Taylor but her achievements in less than a few yrs are undeniable, somebody is doing something right, especially in 2012 and those sales in this day and age speak volumes!! :D
