I'm a big fan of the Bond films and have been enjoying the media attention surrounding the franchise's 50th anniversary and the build-up to Skyfall. The new Bond 50 Blu-ray collection is tremendous -- beautifully packaged, although there isn't much here that wasn't on the previous Blu-ray releases. But it's a stellar collection.

Dr. No is still a terrific movie and remains one of the best Bond films. Sean Connery was perfectly cast, the story is excellent and the overall production was first-rate. It's also the least self-aware of all the Bond films, the series and character not having been established yet. But it set a high standard for subsequent Bond pictures to aspire to, and has rarely been matched, let alone bettered.

Bond has endured generations and I'm a fan too although I would not say I enjoyed all the films. Dr. No was the one that started it all and along with the next 2 Connery films are my favorites. I am "old School" and love the traditional spy movies.

BTW Barry Nelson was the first actor to play James Bond in an hour long TV special and was broadcast on CBS on October 21st, 1954, but of course this threaD is about Dr. No at 50.

Hasnt even been factory folded and looks brand new , you can be searching for yrs and yrs to find one in this shape

German premiere : Jan 63
US premiere : May 63

In the US it was just another movie , who wouldve known the Bond phenomenon exploded 2-3 yrs later ?
