Well, some news that had to come at one point.

THE ENDLESS SUMMER WILL CONTINUE AFTER THE BEACH BOYS 50TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR WRAPS

As The Beach Boys 50th Anniversary Reunion Tour enters its last week culminating in its final shows at London’s Royal Albert Hall on September 27 and Wembley Arena on September 28, Mike Love and Bruce Johnston will be keeping The Beach Boys’ music in front of live audiences by touring in the configuration that they have been touring in for 14 of the last 50 years. The post 50th anniversary configuration will not include Brian Wilson, Al Jardine and David Marks. The 50th Reunion Tour was designed to be a set tour with a beginning and an end to mark a special 50-year milestone for the band.

“As we move on, Bruce and I look forward to performing live for Beach Boys fans everywhere,” says Mike Love.

Several North American dates in October have already gone on sale and concert dates will continue to be announced for The Beach Boys which include Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Mike Love and Bruce Johnston supported musically and vocally by Christian Love, Randell Kirsch, Tim Bonhomme, John Cowsill and Scott Totten, who serves as musical director. It is in this configuration that The Beach Boys have been bringing the legacy of their music and the American lifestyle, with which they have become synonymous, since 1998 when Carl Wilson passed. For 50 years Love has lead The Beach Boys live on stage breaking Guinness Book of World Record numbers for attendance and touring along the way. The Endless Summer will continue for fans everywhere who want to see The Beach Boys live.

Oh, I thought I did post links to articles about the Grammy Museum show and that they talked about that. Maybe I'm a little confused about where I posted what and if I did at all...

But since it's not a big thing, because Mike and Bruce had those dates booked since before the first reunion gig iirc, The big fuss comes from the fans that all of a sudden badmouth Mike, although he didn't say that they'll never work again.
My problem is that he said he would like to do a new album as long as he gets to write with Brian. Mike didn't deliver very classy lyrics to the new album, That's why God made the radio. His "Daybreak" is very nice but other parts are not of very good quality. So, if he wants to write with Brian he has to come up with something that's as good as the music. And lyrically he hasn't done so since the late 70s unfortunately. I for one wouldn't like something like "From there to back again" have lyrics like "back again when we were friends and could catch a wave everyday. Wouldn't it be nice if we could do it again all summer long". The problem imo is just that Mike - paradoxically - has a very biased sense of what the Beach Boys were/are about and why they are loved so much.

No problem Rocker...let's continue the conversation on the Smiley Smile board. It's been a wacky few days over there regarding this drama!

Re: The Beach Boys' 50th anniversary thread

Fri Sep 28, 2012 10:30 am

When Al sent that message on Facebook, I thought it was maybe a publicity stunt, particularly as the dates were already booked. That's seeming less likely now, as I don't think that Mike Love would be prepared to look like such an ass for the sake of publicity. Rocker has a point though - Love has not ruled out working with them again.

For their next to last concert the Beach Boys pulled out the **** yesterday at Royal Albert Hall! Not only did they play every song they did on the reunion tour (incl. Our Prayer!), they also added a new show closer. "Summer's gone" from the new album!!
