As discussed before (on this board) these are the TCEPM masters run through tube equipment. To be honest I'm a bit surprised about this release actually given that these are official masters and none of them are in the public domain.

Is'nt the sound quality from the CM box good enough ?

Based on the other Retro audio versions that I have heard the sound will most likely be too bright for my taste. And yes, they are all sourced from the complete masters set. If my understanding is correct they were transferred to tape, run through tupe equipment and the result = retro audio.

Has Retro Audio been able to make Elvis' voice strong, clear and in key?

If they can magically make his voice sound like he did in 1961, then I'm in.

I know it's only one photo but he looks pretty sick and depressed.

You can fix the pitch, but you can't fix the song selections.

Taking the Sony CD, dubbing it to tape, running it through equipment and "remastering" back to digital is not very audiophile at all.

I think it's fine if retro audio wants to play around w/the complete masters set and put it up for us to check out. But to call this some sort of audiophile masterpiece is bunk, he's simply manipulated the Sony set, you'd have to be a fool to spend your money on this.

Many people don't like to hear much treble or, the high end. The original mix of these songs on LP was atrocious. The Japanese 24bit master from a few years ago was a step in the right direction and many applauded that release on this board. But, some did not like it as they seem to prefer the effect of a pair of thick curtains over their speakers or something!

The original mixes are fine, imo. How much treble one prefers is subjective. To me, too much treble makes the sound artificial, like trying to reveal detail that's not there in the first place.

As I understand it, retro himself isn't actually behind this release, but rather traded the content for something he really wanted with the understanding that the person he traded with would probably end up trying to sell his work.

I for one hope this 'series' fades away quietly. The era of misleading descriptions of content has gone to a new low with this one.

If it worked for Katy Perry, among others, it could certainly work for the King, no ?
