I'm shockedI This guy didn't know what he had. I wonder if the guy who originally recorded this from the Hayride recorded any other shows or more of this show. I think Elvis usually made more than one appearance on each Hayride Show. It would seem likely he would have performed "Mystery Train" as well to promote his new single on the same show.

This rare version has got to be on the Sun Set.
I would be amazed if Ernst did not know about this, and also would be shocked if the chap that put it on the tube, did not know what he had.

The record version slowed down a tad, tampered with & overdubbed with the 'live' ambient sounds.

Hope not !
Never... Elvis' phrasing is completely different on that one - IF it's a fake (which I doubt) then it'd be a real good one.
I agree. There's too much that's different. The first line is phrased differently, almost crooned. I think it's the real deal. I just ran the clip through Audacity to keep it. I wonder if the owner of the tape realised its value? Seems strange putting it on Youtube for nothing. But of course, the original tape may be much better quality than that clip. So I suppose there's still saleable value there.

Either way, it's lovely.

Hello,

This is definitely a very cool recording. The sound quality is superb. It makes me wonder, the person who recorded this, did they record any other Elvis performances from the Hayride. Elvis does seem to sing it slower that the Sun studio recording. I love it when the song breaks for Scotty's guitar solo and the crowd goes wild.

Value, value... C'mon, the guy shares it for free and people talk about value?

THANK GOD he shared this. It's because of friggin' value for something PRICELESS to us fans that private collectors stick their collections up their rear ends and think they are worth something just because we can't listen to it.

Thank you, Blue River. Thank you, rjm. Thank you, Ken.

I'm only saying it's unusual for someone to share something of saleable value for nothing, that's all.

And thank God he did! I feel sorry for the private collectors who don't feel the joy of sharing something important with others.

I don't have anything THAT valuable in my collection but I've shared a few rarities along the years (not Elvis related) and always felt good about it, after all I also felt great when I first heard other things that others shared before me. So I can only imagine that it would be even better if it was something as valuable as an unreleased Elvis recording. It's a shame when someone wants so much money (when they won't take any when they die) or just simply won't share something...

Great, I have something valuable just for myself! Oh my, am I the great collector with the priceless item! Yay!

What's the betting that this will not be on the Sun set, thus making it an 'incomplete' package before it's even out!

Wow, what a treat! This is what being an Elvis fan is all about.
The uploader amberola1b [judging by his other videos], is obviously a genuine old-school audio enthusiast.
That he appears to have bought this rare recording quite unknowingly on a wire spool from ebay, makes it one of the more remarkable Elvis finds in recent history.
Many thanks to the OP, AVSP.

So true!
The recording sounds 100% legit! 8)

You can bet your bottom dollar that if this isn't on the A Boy From Tupelo set,
it will end up on a Sun release by MRS!

Sure is! It's a damn shame that some people call themselves "fans" and don't feel the same when they have something that important that could be shared with others.

Well, at least you can buy an upgraded version of it in the not-too-distant future...

Holy sh*t, why does this gem has to surface NOW and not a few months earlier? :D

Please, Mr. Jorgensen, tell us you knew about it, purchased it and put it on the 3-CD set "A Boy From Tupelo"!

I also would like to point out that no negativity is present so far. Everyone's filled with joy because of this one great find, the joy of being an Elvis fan.

While private collectors pisses me off sometimes, I also feel sorry that they aren't able to share this with us. For while they are sitting on their items we are here united as Elvis fans. Oh yeah, baby! Times like these makes me proud to be a fan. I wish this forum was about that everyday - and not about My Boy jokes.

Thank you, Blue River. Thank you, rjm. Thank you, Ken.

Unfortunately, I doubt it. I think the YouTube uploader [who sounds like a guy you could could trust] would have mentioned this, if this was the case, in his amiable introduction.
