I'm in Memphis.
Now I know why people keep going back. It's good to be around people like us, people who 'get it'.

It's been an amazing few days.
Graceland, Sun, Lauderdale, Humes, Levitt Shell, Tupelo, Forest Hill, Beale (not sure I like that as the day draws on), Peabody, and many other places.
I am still gobsmacked by it all.

I felt the same thing when I went to Memphis for the first time during Elvis week - gobsmacked. It was unbelievable. Just walking through what was Elvis' home. Going to Sun Studios - a total must stop for anyone who is going to Memphis.

The crowds were unbelievable. I have never seen anything like 80,000 people gathering together for the candle light vigil. We stood for over 6 hours from 3:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. when they started letting everyone through.

Just hearing Elvis sing How Great Thou Art and other inspirational songs over the loudspeakers that night was unreal.

Going to Memphis really is something else.

You both saw it as it is, now, with all these activities that weren't there even back in the '90s, last time I was there. (I did attend the vigil in '84. And Nightline was there, live! Pretty cool.)

I can't wait to see how it is now. There's a lot more to do and see.

Have a safe and happy trip home, Jane!

I took just under 2,000 photos :smt003

They are slowly finding their way onto Facebook.
Quite by chance I managed to meet and be photographed with George Klein, Lowell Hays and Jimmy Gambill. Not all at once, of course. Mr Hays very kindly brought me my new TCB necklace to the hotel. How kind is that?

Today I managed to look through the Graceland official guidebook, and note that some of the stuff rotates.
I do not remember, for example, seeing the shot-out TV, nor the fringed rainbow jacket, nor that black pvc jacket he wears during the end credits of TTWII, nor his 'mobile phone', or Charro outfit, all in the book. Mind you there is such a lot to take in all at once, so I will have to sift through the photos.

I liked the exhibitions across the road, some splendid, famous costumes over there in various places. The Aloha exhibit was small but great, brought actual tears.

I enjoyed a long day down in Tupelo with an excellent guide, eating in Johnnie's.
Great tour of Memphis also, where I saw loads of sights related to Elvis, and his homes.
Vernon's place on Dolan.
Sun was a thrill.
Went to see the Circle G, being involved in the campaign and all that.

I wasn't too enthralled with Beale St, but then I was a female alone: I left there around dusk.
Peabody ducks were fun, but they have the crappiest souvenir I have ever seen on sale in one of their shops. It has to be seen to be believed, and is a strong contender for worst Elvis-related item ever, alongside Potato Head. And that's saying something.

Now I want to go back and do it all again. :smt049

Make sure they are jpegs and not raw images. You can convert them, or resize them with several programs, including Microsoft Paint that comes with Windows. just open your photos and choose "Save As" and choose "jpeg" and this should compress them to a tolerable size with out any visual quality loss and offers a "Resize" option if necessary.

I think Facebook has implemented a means to post/share public links to photo albums. I will have to investigate. Jane took some BEAUTIES! I hope she can share them. She would have to share the link(s), they way it works.

Okay. You go into one of your albums, hit the little "settings" icon, and click "get link." Then just copy to clipboard! Cool.

I think (not sure) I have to make them public for that to work.
The other evening someone shared an entire album of mine without asking first, or acknowledging whose pics they were: I wouldn't mind but I hardly know him.
I still have a lot to add on.

Let's try one:

You'll post some cool pics, I'm sure!

Great photos, folks! I'm glad the link worked! Real fine pics!

Sorry that someone on there shared an album of yours w/out credit, but it's a chance you take with FB. And, with that many photos, putting copyright notices on each one is not really an option. I would let them know they are your photos. Try to keep track of them.

See you around, Jane!
