By some distance regarded as the greatest ever Swedish album by a solo artiste. Incredibly beautiful sublime melodies/vocals and immaculate production work - A genuine scandinavian classic.

Benny Andersson [and Bjorn Ulvaeus] are without doubt two of the greatest composers of popular music the world has seen - They could easily be compared favourably with any of the other greats. Genius is a word we hear all to often in this day and age, but in their case few would disagree.dreambear wrote:Especially Benny Andersson is far bigger than any one in the Beatles...elvisalisellers wrote:No they were far bigger !drjohncarpenter wrote:Wasn't she in a band almost as big as the Beatles?elvisalisellers wrote:By some distance regarded as the greatest ever Swedish album by a solo artiste. Re: Last album you listened to.
What can not be denied is the combination of both Agnetha and Anni-Frid's vocals which are as good as it gets. Whilst Abba can be classed as 'cheesy' much of their recordings are pop perfection.drjohncarpenter wrote:It's pretty hard to top "Fernando."elvisalisellers wrote:Benny Andersson [and Bjorn Ulvaeus] are without doubt two of the greatest composers of popular music the world has seen - They could easily be compared favourably with any of the other greats. Re: Last album you listened to.
It certainly is. Have you heard the ORIGINAL FRIDA VERSION ['Frida Ensam'] it features some very nice alternate phrasing though the backing track is virtually identical [it is the same TRACK but is slightly remixed] to the ABBA 'ENGLISH RE-CUT'. The brief demo excerpt is also worth checking out aswell ['Thank You Fot The Music' 1994 box-set].drjohncarpenter wrote:It's pretty hard to top "Fernando."elvisalisellers wrote:Benny Andersson [and Bjorn Ulvaeus] are without doubt two of the greatest composers of popular music the world has seen - They could easily be compared favourably with any of the other greats. For me though the greatest of all ABBA tracks is the majestic & unbelievable 'The Winner Takes It All'. If a better pop single was released in the 1980's i've yet to hear it ! Oh for an alternate 'work in progress' version of this................
