Losing eyesight,lost job.cant see to type sometimes

Hi all
in september of last year i noticed a severe loss of vision in both of my eyes,and although i have worn glasses for the last 10 years or so ,my eyesight was ok.Late last summer ,the vision i had ,seemed to be a bit on the blurry side,which i put down to being tired ,as i was working 12 hour nights 7 days a week afer a few weeks,when my vision was still causing me problems, and i became,near blind in the dark. I went and saw my doctor,who referred me to a specialist opthalmic optician,who said i needed to see a,doctor at the eye hosital as he feared i had tunnel vision and night blindness,I made an appointment for January 2009 .i saw teh doctors and had a thorough examination and numerous tests.I was devestated at the results.which are untreatable.
I was informed that i had Retinitis Pygmentosa and night blindness and it was getting worse,I was told i would have to tell my employers that i was only partially sighted and was registered with the local blind society ,as a partially sighted person. i know myself and mrsKen,Joanne will be ok and itll be easier to cope with ,with the love of a good woman
On 1st Feb 2009 i notified my employers of the results,and was told i would lose my job,as i am unfit to be a security guard,as its a job that relies on good vision.
i was told on Thursday 19th Feb that i was unfit for work and finished with 1 months notice.
I have been advised by the job center that i will struggle to gain employment as my eyesight is to poor to meet Health and Safety regulations and i may have to go onto disability living allowance and other benefits,hard to believe that,at 44 your work life could be over.
i have trouble seeing what i have typed and ,sometimes punctuation goes out of the window,but i will re learn how to type without seeing the keys.as i cant make them bigger,like i can with the screen size,for reading.
I DO ENJOY READING ,AND POSTING ON HERE
and will continue to do do for as long as possible,as i have made some good mates on here

I can sympathize my friend, I have had five eye surgeries in the past 10 months (2 cataract + 2 corneal implant grafts (1 twice as it rejected after a week). I deal with Fuchs Corneal Dystrophy which cost me my job last May.

Doctors have done amazing things for me and my outlook is getting better each day, I hope that you may find the same results in someway.

Hang in there as all have said. I know you will do whatever you can to just try and see. I sit before my PC wearing not only my original TriFocal glasses, but an additional pair of 4x power cheater glasses on top. I hope to have new eyewear in about 4 - 6 months that should alleviate this.

Many supported me with good wishes and concern on this message board, with one very caring individual in particular- who really lifted me with his regular inquires and concern about my progress.

Though the outlook may be hard to live with or accept, know that all on here are pulling for you. It does make it a bit easier to get through each day.

My thoughts and good wishes go out to you each day- if you need to just vent to someone who has kind of been there- pm and I'll give you my personal email. I'd be happy to exchange thoughts and support at any time.

You know, we all sit here day after day just reading and posting and getting on with our own lives, that not often do we stop and think just how other people who we know so well through this and other Elvis sites are getting along with every day things. I know I have a few things going on at the moment that I could certainly do without, but there is always someone worse off than I am.

If your eyes have cataract symtoms you know you can get that operated on.
