Well, I was going to wait for something special for the post which finally tripped the counter over to 10,000, but in the end, it was on a thread about Star Wars !

Just the way things go, I guess !

You kept us the edge of our seats all day!

Way to go Colin!

Congratulations, Colin!! I knew it would be you!! I am on #325, but will get to 10,000 one day (soon). You are my inspiration!! (Even though I am still Low Down on Steve's board!)

Thanks for the kind words !

[Congratulations, Colin, you are our star poster - The Management]

Sun Nov 20, 2005 9:40 pm

Sue, I will fix that for you.

Colin, I'm still a newbie on here having joined a year after everone else had who seemed to be a member at the time I joined.
But despite what must have been a record number of posts in one week (351) I was still 2600 + behind you. Now I'm even further behind at nearly 5000 behind.

Question:
Did you ever think that you would spend your retirement time in this fashion ?

It's the rate at which you post that counts.

I post an average of 10.56 posts per day.

Sam does 7.8.

You average 8.61.

At the current rates, unless you speed up, you can't ever catch me up; but you will pass Sam one day !

Deep down, I always knew this was my destiny !

Why else did I concentrate on just the one performer and his music for all those years ?

It's fate !

Sun Nov 20, 2005 11:36 pm

That's wierd coz Sam is about as much ahead of me as he was when I joined.

Wait a sec, that's because he's been here longer so although the space is the same the difference as a percentage is lower and therefore the average will be lower. Sams average post per day will slowly go towards mine but we'll never actaully meet.

Well ya never know ur luck!!!

I might get into the swing of things and do some serious postings next year. But then again I don't usually post serious stuff.

As someone once said.... It's not the quantity but the quality. Well that counts me out!!!!

Mon Nov 21, 2005 1:45 am

Well, you'll 'meet' briefly as you overtake him, won't you ?

All this depends on us maintaining our 'average' rates of posting.

If any of us change, anything could happen !

At one time, Sam & I used to alternate as the most prolific posters.

Then Sam got a life !

[I'm still looking]

I won't overtake him Colin.

It's the old thing of being as the percentage of age diffence narrows between us i must one day reach your age and overtake you.

Imagine you are twice my age and that you are 54.

Well that means that I would be 50% younger than you.

when I'm 54 you will be 81 and so I will only be 33% younger than you.

Time ticks at the same rate and me and Sam post at about the same rate.

If it adds up and I make sense then great, if not don't worry it don't matter and yes, I was kidding about being 27.

Steve-M....Imagine you are twice my age and that you are 54............

Now 54? that's being generous!!!!

Steve-M....I was kidding about being 27.

So the possibility of Colin being twice your age might be.
Are you 47?

Sam, I just realised that that might have been the first time you ever used algebra to get an answer

(Steve 2) / posts = Colin - n

What is the value of n ?

The key word there is 'about' !

Imagine a never-ending road with two cars travelling in the same direction.

However far ahead the first car is, if the second car is travelling even a tiny bit faster, it will eventually overtake !

You are posting at a slightly higher rate than Sam, so if neither of your rates change, you must 'overtake' him at some point !
