SONGS I HAVE WRITTEN, HOW BOUT SOME OF YOURS?

Sat Aug 20, 2005 9:09 am

becoz my other thread DOES ANYONE WRITE THEIR OWN SONGS did'nt really take off, i've decided to repost it with a different name. i think that the previous title would've told people 'well either i do, or don't, so i don't need to see this thread'

so again, for those who never checked, post your song that you've written if you have, and write the reason why you wrote the song, maybe it was influenced by some of Elvis's recordings or some body elses

i've decided to post the same song again on this thread. here is one that i written about 6 months ago. i was having a few personal probs, but its pretty o.k now. the song structure is based on 'stranger in my own home town', except for the 3rd verse. the chords and rhythm are also based on it, except for that 3rd verse.

IF YOU DON’T KNOW ME BYNOW

If you don’t know me by now, I’m the sorriest sight in
town
Repeat
You’ll see I’m the weirdest son of a gun you’ve ever
found!

If you don’t know me by now, people say I’m crazy
Repeat
My future in this place is looking a little hazy

People pointing at me every which-a-way
You don’t want to know the things they have to say
Someday you’ll agree with their words
But right now, you think its absurd

If you don’t know me by now, man I got no friends
Repeat
Never know what’s coming, don’t know what’s round the
bend

If you don’t know me by now, I think I want to die
Repeat
Don’t know what I done, don’t think I’ll get by

If you don’t know me by now, then you never will
Repeat
You’ll never know me, or the way I feel

If you don’t know me by now, I’m new around this place
Repeat
You’ll get to know me, and never want to see my face!

ok, heres another, one of my better ones

this song was just an excuse for another pretty love song with good lyrics. i'm hoping to make a career later in life and record these songs on a few albums with a couple of Elvis songs thrown in, and maybe other artists songs

THERE ALWAYS TOMORROW
as the day draws to a close, and the night begin
tomorrow bears another rose, and the moonlight beams in
my thoughts turn to you, when we said goodbye
i know you love me too, and you wanna cry

but theres always tomorrow for another kiss
yes theres always tomorrow, remember this

wipe the tears from your eyes, theres gonna be another day
love never dies, when you come my way
hold me in your arms, like we could never let go
feel the love in my palms, and tell me you love me so

theres always tomorrow, we've got the time
yes theres always tomorrow, and you'll still be mine
tomorrow can change our thoughts and dreams
tomorrow can change a life it seems

tomorrow you could be with some one new
tomorrow you could say, i don't love you!
tomorrow is there for our love to grow
tomorrow is there for you to let gooooooooo!!!

theres always tomorrow, to say its over
theres always tomorrow, to find a 4 leaf clover
theres always tomorrow, one more tear to cry
theres always tomorrow, maybe i could die
theres always tomorrow, to say goodbye

goodbye! yeah, goodbye! goo-ood byyyyeeeeeeeee!!!

ok, now where is some of yours for crying out loud

Here's the words to a song I wrote and recorded for a CD I made of my own songs last year.

It's called One Way Traffic and it's about a bunch of people that are all in love with someone other than the person who is in love with them. A very sad state of affairs........

Out of all my songs, it's the one I can most hear Elvis singing - kind of a "How The Web Was Woven" vibe.......

ONE WAY TRAFFIC

She still loves me
They tell me that she cries most every night
We weren't meant to be
But that's not to say that what I did was right
Seems she won't be singing in the mornings for a while
It'll take a better man than me to make her smile
And though it's plain to hear and see what she's going through
And though she's still in love with me
I fell in love with you

But you still love him
Even though this other woman's turned his head
Hanging on a limb
You sought comfort in these arms of mine instead
I thought you might have come to stay, suppose I'm not that smart
'Cause you can't give your love away while he's still in your heart
And though my hopes are growing dim, I'll wait the winter through
And though you're still in love with him
I fell in love with you

You steamrolled me over babe, it only took a glance
You steamrolled me over and I never stood a chance
And though my hopes are growing dim, I'll wait the winter through
And though you're still in love with him
I fell in love with you

If you're writing words as good as yours at 15 then the future promises good things for you, Elvis Jnr!

The CD is available through the internet at the moment, but we may well be getting a distribution deal for it.

You can copyright your songs by simply mailing a recording of the songs back to yourself. The date stamp on the envelope would be proof of the date. If you want to do something a little more concrete than that, then I suggest reading around issues about music copyright on the web.

Good luck!

I'VE GOT YOU
gonna get ya, if its the last thing on my mind
gonna get ya, GONNA BE MINE!
i got you in my scope, i got my hopes-on you
i got you in my sight, i'll get you if it takes all night

I GOT YOU! in my sights, never gonna get away
I GOT YOU! you'll be mine today
don't try to escape, there's just no hope
I GOT YOU! in my scopes

if it takes till the end of time, i'm gonna make you mine. aaaaaah!

tonights the night i taste your lips
tonights the night i FEEL YOUR FINGERTIPS!
i got you caught in my net, don't make any bets-you'll get away
i got you in my eyes, won't let you get caught by another guy

chorus
if it takes till the end of time, i'm gonna make you mine. AAAAAAAAH!

oh since the day i saw, that girl at the door.
i knew i was gonna buy her, SHE SETS MY HEART ON FIRE!

chorus
if it takes till the end of time, i'm gonna make you mine. AAAAAAAH!

Sorry, I really wouldn't know how.

I'll try and get the guys at the site to put one up soon. Other than that you'd just have to trust me when I say "buy it, it's good!".

come on and, stay right there
don't you know, how much i care?

chorus

saxophone instrumental

chorus
come on and, show it so
come on baby, or i'll let goooooooo oh!

come on and, turn your lights down low
come on baby, don't say no
come on and, just love me too
yes come on, because i love you

chorus

Hey, got some good songs here!

You should looking into getting them with BMI or ASCAP so they'll be more safe.

Don't suppose either of you write Gospel? I'm looking to record a Gospel album late 2006 and I'm always looking for new material, if you're interested.

I've started work on a couple of songs that have a spiritual theme, but I don't think you'd call them 'gospel' as such. Let us all know how the recording goes!

i've written 2 gospel songs, the wonder of the lord and christ is gonna come real soon. i would consider a gospel album, but i can't say i'm in to those songs that much, though i do like them, i like blues and folksy songs

what are BMI and ASCAP?

Very big American song publishing companies. No good to me here in Blighty, alas.

OK here goes:

To the tune of 'Ito Eats'

"My darling, as the sun sets slowly in the west,
and the stars come out to play as I remove my vest,
I think about our meeting, our little tete-a-tete,
and how you took your teeth out, before you ate."

repeat to fade

I've got this in 5.1 surround on a DVD-A, if anyone is interested.

Tue Nov 29, 2005 2:35 pm

No thanks Colin!

Is that the David Bendeth remix?

Tue Nov 29, 2005 4:24 pm

LOL! Colin, I'm gonna have to record that...

I'll tell you the project, I'm looking at either just a regular album or a Gospel album with the Jordanaires, DJ Fontana, Bob Moore, Millie Kirkham, etc, and although I'd love to do a Gospel album, I'm lacking good Gospel songs that Elvis hasn't already taken. lol

So please feel free to send any songs you might have if you're interested and I'll take a gander at 'em.

Wed Nov 30, 2005 7:57 am

all right Jamie, i'm gonna be REAL nice, you can record one of my songs if you like, i just hope you do it justice. i do not have any copyright on them, but if could list me as the writer, which i am, i'd very much appreciate that. please send me the end result if you like it. don't try no dirty business, coz i can't sue

it is'nt exactly one of my faves, so thats why i'm taking the risk. i looked out at my window before the night began, and some of these thoughts come to my mind........

THE WONDER OF THE LORD
as another day comes to end, i look out my window
the red, orange, pink sky is a beautiful sight to know
i count the stars at night and know there are more
and i praise the wonder of the lord

chorus
the wonder of the lord, can not be denied
his kingdom is forever, glorified
his gift he gave was life, it was to me and you
without him, what would i do?

the rain falls on the roof, a soothing sound
it comes from the heavens, to which we are bound
and i'll wake up in the morning, and wonder what i'm here for
then i know, its for the wonder of the lord

chorus

the trees rustle in a cool summer breeze
the sun beams down on what i see
it is a sight words can't describe, a feeling my heart can't pour
it is the wonder of the lord

chorus

as the years go by, i weaken each day
death, stands in my way
but my eyes can still see behind the door
one last look, at the wonder of the lord

chorus

as he takes my hand, it has come true
i see the face of the man i always knew
he takes me to heaven, to see what i saw
it is the wonder of the lord!

chorus

what would i do without the wonder of the lord?!!

hows that for a 15 year old?

enjoy 8)

Wed Nov 30, 2005 8:14 am

Don't worry, man, I don't rip anybody off. If I end up using the song, I'll pay you standard royalty fee - .085 cents per song of yours per CD sold, or whatever the rate is when the disc comes out, and I'll definitely credit you. I never record a song I'm not comitted to, and I'm as proud of where they come from as I am of anything else about them.

Does this have music to go with the words? If you can make a demo, that'd be great, as I don't read sheet music. If you just have the chords, that's fine, too, I can figure it out. :)

Not bad at all for a 15 year old, course I'd need the music to be sure I'm comfortable with the flow. Just let me know either way.
