Tough loss for his fans and the championships due to start a week from now. Is this the END of Rafa's tennis career.. IMO a darn shame.
"Rafael Nadal has withdrawn from the Australian Open due to the injury he suffered at the Brisbane international during a loss to Australia's Jordan Thompson.
Nadal said an MRI confirmed a small muscle tear and that he would return to Spain for treatment.
The Spanish great said he is also not ready to play best of five set matches."

He's knackered. Gotta wonder how Djokovic stays so fit.Walter Hale 4 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2024 8:42 pmTough loss for his fans and the championships due to start a week from now. Is this the END of Rafa's tennis career.. IMO a darn shame.

Good one Mike Compared to his rivals Nadal and Federer , Djokovic has been relatively injury free.mike edwards66 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2024 9:42 pmHe's knackered. Re: Nadal out of the Australian Open 2024...
another way to look at it is because his tennis game was far more physical than either Federer's (now retired) or Djokovic's how they went about their tennis, it's really extraordinary, a sheer dedication of will and good fortunate that his body has taken him this far. Nadal turns 38 later this year.
Let's hope he can heal up for the clay season, with one last shot at Roland Garros (aka French Open) glory, and soon after that he carries the flag for Spain at the Paris Olympics.
Although not really a Nadal fan, i was more Federer fan, but just the same, i appreciated what he brought to the game and would be saddened if constant run of injuries was the reason he had to hang up the racquets.
