Shane Warne 😢😢😢 RIP legend. I'm stunned. Gutted.
Terrible news, not 24 hours after the awful news regarding Rod Marsh....2 Australian legends gone in one day.....we are all shattered.
2 cricketing giants.

But just can't believe Warnie has gone. Only 52. The way he played over here in 2005, loved him. I don't mind admitting I shed a tear about him tonight. He was the best.
Australia is shedding a collective tear today....the whole country is shattered. His kids will probably be inconsolable.....the Premier of Victoria has offered them a state funeral and they are naming The Great Southern Stand at the Melbourne Cricket Ground after him. Warnie lived his life to the absolute fullest........a lesson for everyone....never take anything for granted.

about to be a busy off-season for my cowboys.
according to reports they will trade or release veteran wr amari cooper.
he's our best receiver and i'm not happy about it but business is business.
usatsi_13682887.jpg
with the money saved...its believed they will be able to sign both of their free-agent wideouts...michael gallup and cedrick wilson.
now i am happy about that.
its reported dallas is closing in on a deal with gallup.
hope its true.

i expect my cowboys will place the franchise tag on their f/a te dalton schultz.
they would then have until mid-july to work out a long term deal.
if not...he plays for us for 1yr at $10mil.
nice work if you can get it.
he's a good,young player.
hope we can make all this work.

After 8 defeats in 9 games, Everton face the prospect of relegation from England's top division for the first time in over 70 years 😳😬😬😬

After a good start, we have been awful for so much of this season.

Breaking...

Ashleigh Barty, Australia number one tennis player and Wimbledon and Australian Open champion, has announced she is retiring effective immediately :o

Hard to comprehend as she is just 25 and at the prime in her career.

On her day, she was like a female version of Roger FEDERER. Always went about her tennis without stalling between points, no grunting and never made any fuss or the umpire's job difficult.
Always was fun to watch.

Am absolutely stunned. I wish Ashleigh all the very best of success after tennis

MADRID Tennis Open - There's a sure sign of a changing of the guard, as spanish 19 years old teenage sensation Carlos ALCARAZ has now beaten claycourt King Rafael NADAL and #1 seeded Novak DJOKOVIC (semi-final) in back-to-back matches and reached the final. He will face defending champion Alexander Zverev, the number 2 seed and defending champion.
I don't know if that has ever happened before in back-to-back (consecutive) tennis matches.
The closet was 2014 Australian Open with Stan WAWRINKA defeat of Djokovic in a quarterfinal and then Nadal in the final.

Both Nadal and Djokovic bore me to tears

UPDATE Carlos wins the Madrid Tennis Open in style !

Carlos Alcaraz continues to re-write tennis' record books after thrashing Alexander Zverev to win the Madrid Open final.

After beating Rafa Nadal and world number 1, Novak Djokovic in successive matches to make Sunday's final, the 19-year-old prodigy blasted Zverev off the court on Sunday in a 6-3 6-1 thrashing.

Zverev, the defending champion who also won in Madrid in 2018, had no answer to the depth and power of Alcaraz's groundstrokes and was broken decisively in the sixth game of the first set and four times in the second.

On court after the match, Zverev told Alcaraz: "I want to congratulate Carlitos. Right now you are the best player in the world.

"It is great for tennis that we have such a new superstar that is going to win so many grand slams, that is going to be world number one and I think is going to win this tournament many more times."

With his victory, Alcaraz became the second-youngest player ever to win two Masters 1000 titles.

Alcaraz is now the youngest Madrid Open champion ever and the second youngest to win two Masters 1000 trophies after Nadal won in Monte Carlo and Rome in 2005.

The Spanish prodigy is also the first player since 1990 to beat three top-5 players on the way to a title.

Alcaraz had already become the youngest player to enter the top-10 since Nadal in 2005.

"It feels great to be able to beat these players," the 19-year-old said.

"To beat two of the best players in history and then Zverev, the World No. 3. He is a great player. I would say this is the best week of my life."

The Roland Garros (French Open) Tennis Championship underway right now, they're up to fourth round matches (Round of 16).

Could be clash of the titans in one quarterfinal should arch-rivals Rafael Nadal (seeded 5) and Novak Djokovic (seeded 1) prevail in their matches later today.
They've played one another so many times for the best part of 20 years but i don't recall Nadal and Djokovic playing in a lower round. Usually it's a semi-final or final round.

The one player I am curious to see if he can step up is Carlos ALCAREZ (seeded #6) from Spain. This is Clay and young 18 year old has won MADRID Open where he beat Nadal and Djokovic there. Is Destiny on his side ? Let's hope so.

Good to see the french crowds response being fair to the two Russians Danill MEDVEDEV and ANDREI RUBLEV. I was wondering what the crowds response would be to russian players. Certainly it's not their fault the Kremlin Government is plain evil.

Huge surprise with Russian tennis star Danill MEDVEDEV , tournament No 2 player losing 62 63 62 to Marin CILIC, who was a past U S Open winner and Wimbledon finalist.

#4 seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas , also lost to rising Danish star, Holger RUNE.

The clash of the titans coming up in tomorrows (Tuesday) Quarterfinal with Djokovic versus Nadal. It is their 69 match versus one another.

In an epic quarterfinal, Rafael NADAL has defeated Novak DJOKOVIC , the defending champion, who beat Nadal in last years semifinal round, Nadal this time winning in 4 sets 6-2,4-6,6-2,7-6.

Match took 4 hours and 12 minutes to play four sets! It was also a night match that finished near 1:20 am Paris time zone. Ridiculous scheduling.

Next up for Nadal , who turns 36 soon, will be Alexander Zverev the third seed, in one semifinal. Zverev defeated Carlos ALCAREZ in his quarterfinal.

Need to correct my earlier comment. Nadal vs Djokovic played 59 , not 69 matches, versus each other.

The two arch-rivals have faced each other 59 times, and this includes at all four major finals, with Djokovic leading overall in their encounters 30–29.
Djokovic also leads 15–13 in finals overall, while Nadal leads 11–7 in matches at the Grand Slams majors (mostly French Open ones).

Poland's number one womens seed Iga Swiatek, will play American Coco Gauff in Saturday's French Open final.

Will we see a competitive final for a change ? The two semifinals were extremely one-sided results, not uncommon in women's tennis competition.

Happy Birthday Rafa NADAL. He turns 36. Yeah i know i said a number of times i am not a fan (and DJOKOVIC fan) but i respect what these players bring to the table and the fact they've been able to compete at a high level for so many years. Nadal plays his semifinal in about two hours from now. If he wins will he be presented with a birthday cake? :D

Now, this next slideshow is called WHEN THEY WERE KIDS. Look out for 13-year-old Nadal's technique when he hits a forehand volley.

Mens 2022 Roland Garros final will be Rafael Nadal, seeded 5, who will be going for his 14th championship, versus rising Norway star, Casper Ruud, seeded 8. Ruud is the first ever Norwegian to reach a Grand Slam final.

I wanna see young Casper win the championship as i've had a gutfull of Nadal.

Perhaps the most remarkable feat came yet again in the wheelchair tennis doubles. Gordon Reid and Alfie Hewett were grand slam champions for the tenth time...in succession. That's not ten at the French open, but the last ten grand slams. It's a remarkable piece of history in a part of the sport that still doesn't get much recognition, despite the fact that the doubles in particular are exciting to watch.

Accused of being "a nerd in his 20s." I wish.

Congratulations to Rafael Nadal and also Iga Swiatek both took out the Roland Garros Championships , both one sided finals. Nadal wins his 14th French title and 22 Grand Slam overall.

Someone on the tennis forum of which i am involved, made the point that in all 14 RG finals , Nadal not once was taken to five sets in any of the finals! Extraordinary stats and domination.

As for Iga, she won her second Roland Garros and is on 35 matches winning streak.

Quite a coincidence.

Real Madrid fan Rafa Nadal emulates Los Blancos with number 14 in Paris

Real Madrid Rafa Nadal has emulated his favourite football team by claiming win number 14 in Paris.

Nadal watched on from the stands at the Stade de France last Saturday night as Madrid beat Liverpool 1-0 to win a 14th European Cup - and the 36-year-old claimed an incredible 14th French Open title with victory over Casper Ruud at Roland Garros on Sunday.

The Mallorca-born player, whose uncle is former Barcelona and Spain player Miguel Angel Nadal, wrapped up victory in straight sets.

Nadal, who took the honorary kick-off for Real Madrid ahead of their 4-0 win over Espanyol at the Santiago Bernabeu on April 30, has now won a record 22 Grand Slam titles.

Ahead of match point on Ruud's serve, someone in the crowd in Paris shouted 'Hala Madrid' and moments later, Nadal embraced his opponent following the capture of his 14th title.

The Spaniard won the last 11 games against his Norwegian opponent to claim the title in three sets: 6-3, 6-3, 6-0.

Congrats to italian tennis player Matt Berrettini who has won the Stuttgart Open for a second time. He defeats Andy Murray in a close final three setter, 6-4 5-7 6-3 .
Second seed Berrettini, has been absent from the tour since undergoing surgery on his hand in March. So this is a good comeback result for him.

Andy, who's 35 now, will be a huge sentimental favourite during Wimbledon.

Draws for Wimbledon have now been announced.

A potentially, changing-of-the-guard could be rising talent Carlos ALCARAZ against tournament number 1 seed, Novak DJOKOVIC as a Quarter-final. That would be something to see.

Good write-up on the draw and other potential match-ups, for you...
