The Aussies are still paying for the sandpaper saga…personally I am not a fan of Warner or Smith. It was a fair dismissal..it’s hard to say what would have happened if it was the Poms….on another note, I am looking forward to the women’s soccer…sorry, football….our Sam Kerr is a star….and it will be at a reasonable time to watch.

I think sandpapergate will follow Smith and Warner for the rest of their careers. It's a shame because they're both great players, Smith in particular. He really is special.

I'm sure we'd have done the same if it was the other way round. Can't wait for play to start tomorrow....I shall move my laptop downstairs and work with it on in the background.

I'll try and watch the Lionesses play. The quality of the woman's game has improved so much overall.

Congratulations Walter on the first test.

Worked in front of the TV all day Monday and Tuesday.

In hindsight, it wasn't wise to declare when we did. I think another 50 runs were needed, but that's how this England side play. Entertaining but a little too reckless at times.

Hats off to Cummings and Lyon. That was a terrific stand.

Quite a few people think Bairstow should be dropped, due to his keeping. What do you think?
Appologise londonflash. I been away from here 3 months and missed your reply.

I reckon England were the better side after the opening two tests in the ashes and it was a shame that the fourth test at Old Trafford was ruined by rain delays.

meanwhile the limited 50 overs Cricket World Cup is in progress right now and Australia has eliminated England the defending champions.

Holders England eliminated from World Cup after losing to Australia

Australia posted 286 all out, while England managed 253 in reply, slumping to their sixth defeat.

Defending champions England were eliminated from the 50-over World Cup after their 33-run defeat by Ashes rivals Australia on Saturday in Ahmedabad, India.

Australia posted 286 all out with Marnus Labuschagne (71) top-scoring for them after the five-time champions were put in to bat.

England managed 253 in reply to slump to their sixth defeat in seven matches and stay rooted to the bottom of the table.

Opener Dawid Malan (50) and Ben Stokes (64) smashed half-centuries but England did not produce significant partnerships and were bowled out in 48.1 overs.

Australia spinner Adam Zampa (3-21) was player of the match for his stellar bowling that included the prized wickets of England captain Jos Buttler, Stokes and Moeen Ali (42).

Australia are third in the standings after their fifth win in seven matches.

“It certainly feels like a low point,” Buttler said after the side’s premature exit from the 10-team tournament.

“To be stood in this position, having arrived in India with high hopes is incredibly tough and disappointing. It hurts a lot.”

Earlier, Chris Woakes (4-54) rattled Australia, removing both the openers inside six overs after Buttler elected to field at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

In his first over, Travis Head’s half-hearted dab ended up in Joe Root’s safe palms in the slip.

In Woakes’s third over, David Willey at midwicket had all the time in the world to settle under a sky-er after David Warner, who had tonked a six two balls earlier, mistimed his pull.

Labuschagne and Smith then shored up Australia with a 75-run partnership but England refused to throw in the towel.

Adil Rashid dismissed Smith and Josh Inglis in his successive overs to reduce Australia to 117-4 near the halfway stage of the Australian innings.

Cameron Green (47) and Marcus Stoinis (35) scored briskly and Zampa contributed a quick 29 runs to take Australia past the 275 mark.

England’s chase got off to the worst possible start with Jonny Bairstow falling for a first-ball duck tickling a loosener from Mitchell Starc which Inglis caught diving to his left.

Root fell after an eventful 17-ball stay during which he was dropped once, survived an lbw review, and eventually departed caught behind after Australia challenged the initial not-out decision.

Malan and Stokes revived England’s chase with an 84-run stand but England did not get another significant partnership after they fell.

Their title defense was effectively over when Stokes swept Zampa to Stoinis at fine leg.

“It’s been great. The boys have played brilliantly, every game we’ve found a way to win,” Australia captain Pat Cummins said of their five-match winning streak.

“I still don’t think we’ve played the complete game. But we’ve had different match-winners.”

Yes, I think had the rain stayed away in Manchester, we'd have won back the urn.

The less said about our 50 over team the better!

Oh No, NO !!!

At the Cricket World cup, Australia in danger of losing the semifinal before the game is even played !

There is horrendous weather expected to hit India on thursday and threatens to cancel the second semifinal. Under the rules South Africa will be declared the winner advances to the final because they finished second , above Australia who finish third. How unlucky is that ?

Cricket World Cup - The Aussies have reached the final, will play India in India for all the glory this Sunday. :D

Commiserations to South Africa but their top order batters played a shocker today, losing the opening four batters for a measly 44 runs, was what let them down.

In the end the Springbok was defending a low 212 runs, which was a tough ask.
