I'm betting he's knocking them dead with one of those 1950s classics.
The United States of America have had
forty-six Presidents, but only ONE King!
Thank you very much, ladies and gentlemen.
You're a beautiful audience.

"Won't you Love Me" (cymbal crash)
"Don't tell me to play it. I will when I get ready. Do you understand me?"

I prefer a "tink" to a cymbal crash on '77 versions of "Love Me."

Good shot. Elvis looks pretty nice from that angle, considering the timeframe.

Thanks very much for the post Juan. That is a pic from that show I've never seen before. To borrow from SteamrollerBlues, Elvis does look good in the pic.

It was taken from quite a distance, which was helpful during that very tragic final year.SteamrollerBlues wrote:Good shot. Elvis looks pretty nice from that angle, considering the timeframe.

But they did a good job of photoshopping his horse out of the picture.drjohncarpenter wrote:It was taken from quite a distance, which was helpful during that very tragic final year.SteamrollerBlues wrote:Good shot. Elvis looks pretty nice from that angle, considering the timeframe.

Photo taken by Pete Hohn for Minneapolis Tribune and published alongside the May 2 review of the show, albeit cropped.

We all know how terrible those Hollywood, Florida photos are from Feb. 1977. The photo above is not grotesque, but still equally sad. I can see the Elvis we know and love here, it has to do with the angle/profile. His eyes aren't bulging and his cheeks aren't as puffy. Poor guy, my heart aches still when I see these photos.

I totally agree with you " YDKM " .YDKM wrote:Ironically that night in St Paul- he looked pretty 'good' compared to other dates same tour!~
Some shows were good on this tour and some were just too strenuous for him as fatigue was occuring as he slurred his voice on some songs and he would get delirious to know where he was at
But hey guess what his voice never faultered during his latter shows towards the end
It just got stronger
Long Live Elvis The King Forever
