The July date and location are from the Pinterest page, as noted. My OP also asks if it might be from Hollywood in this period, and not Memphis.

Finally, that colourized image shows us two different fans, although they wear similar hairstyles and fur coats. Elvis is also dressed slightly different. So they were taken at different times.

Thanks. I had noted those points in the OP. I also noticed the differences in the appearance of the fans and the differences in Elvis's uniforms -- most notably the double-banded collar in the first photo.

I hoped my observation on the clothing in the photo might help rule out the "July in Memphis" date offered by the Pinterest page. Other dates/locations (including the one mentioned in the OP) should be seriously considered.

One thing we can probably set to rest is that Elvis NEVER wore a garish, bright red football helmet, with matching chin strap. Why someone chose to color images this way is beyond comprehension.
