The first photo is from Los Angeles, probably taken at 20th Century Fox on on Friday, October 5, 1956, when he was formally released from "The Reno Brothers" (later renamed "Love Me Tender"). The image is cropped, the original shows him with legendary film producer Buddy Adler, who had succeeded Darryl F. Zanuck as Head of Production at the studio that February. Apparently set to be executive producer on "Flaming Star" in 1960, instead Adler tragically died at 51 from lung cancer on July 12. He was by all accounts a very well-liked Hollywood man.

Here's the uncropped version:

Here are a few others from this date:

The other two are from the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in September 1956. Elvis is greeting members of a fan club called the Presleyettes. These candids apparently first appeared in Bud Glass' book, Elvis: Behind The Image Volume 2. Why we see them watermarked by Lichter's "Elvis Unique" Record Club is a question I ain't going to answer here. Draw your own conclusion.

Thanks a million, Doc, for the very complete information regarding the three photos I posted, as well as the uncropped / unwatermarked images you included.

I couldn't have asked for a more precise answer !

As for the watermarks, I think I got those two photos from eBay, but I couldn't tell for sure. I was unaware of the connection with Lichter - I have never dealt with him.

Thanks also, Jove, for the additional image of Elvis with the girls. They are probably the very same girls appearing with him in the above photos.

All in all, Mr. Elvis Presley at his coolest.

Forget about the ridiculous detractors - Elvis rules !

Just some trivial info - I just watched "LOVING YOU" the other night, ever notice that Elvis' cousin, Gene Smith, is an extra in the scene where "Deke & Susan" are at the carnival throwing the balls at the milk bottles (Duke looks at him & rolls his eyes) and Gene is wearing that shirt or one just like it. I'm assuming it's Elvis' shirt because in the early years you see friends & family wear his clothing or he gave them the clothes. And in that scene, the shirt looks big on Gene, and Elvis was a little bigger than Gene. Just a interesting observation on my part.
