3.5" Elvis
3.5" sounds small doesn't it.. ha ha. But in reference to Elvis photos they are one of my favorite collectibles. Here is one, I'll try to add a few more from time to time.
Share yours too if you like. Always happy to grab them and add them to my folder.

Re: 3.5" Elvis
Sorry, I don’t believe that any of these pictures were taken in Memphis.
The first picture appears to be at 1174 Hillcrest, and he’s just arriving home. Note the gates; I believe this was taken in late November 1968.
The second picture is interesting and new to me it seems. I would agree that this is 1967 but I think it’s earlier than December. More like the summer of 67’. Elvis’ hair was quite a bit longer at the back in December. I think this was taken at Rocca Place.
The third picture with Priscilla in the front seat and who appears to be Billy Smith in the back is 1968, quite possibly September, I do have the picture filed but I am unable to check right now.

Julian you are right. The first shot # 3 on my reference sheet is just dated Nov 68. (It doesn't say Graceland) My bad.
What I did was scan the photos then turn them over and make a note of what was written on the reverse. Here is what I have for the two I posted above. If there was nothing written on the reverse I didn't note it. Three of them on my sheet are definately Graceland. You can see the gates in # 1 and # 2 said the same on the reverse so I have no reason to doubt it.

Wow! and they waited until October 1970 to process it? They sure took a chance of the film stock expiring on such a great picture.ArtyMorty wrote:The one I posted is December 1967 outside the Rocca Place home.
Thanks Arty!

Re: 3.5" Elvis
No 3 on Tony´s sheet I would date as November 6, 1968 now that I´ve had time to check my photos.
Seems like he´s wearing the same jacket and scarf as in this photo. No 5 in the sheet, the one where he´s walking towards the Hillcrest gate I would date as December 14, 1968.
Same scarf and jacket as in this pic. And I believe we also see the shirt sticking up from the collar on his left side.
Do you agree Julian
Sincerely
Brian

Re: 3.5" Elvis
Firstly, Tony King, thanks for starting this thread. Theses candid pictures of Elvis are always really great to see and to try and date.
Hi Brian, Do you have any pictures dated November 26th?
I would agree that no 3 on Tony’s sheet was taken on the 6th November. I’ve noted that “The Elvis Files” has Elvis wearing the same jacket & scarf on 26th November. In fact, the ‘car shot’ is in volume 4 and dated as 26th November. I’ve had several pictures from this night dated as 6th November for a long time, I don’t know where Lorentzen got the November 26th date from and at this moment I’m suspecting he’s got it wrong and sticking to the 6th for the time being.
Picture no 5. Elvis in the brown jacket & trousers with green/gold coloured scarf I have as November 30th which incidentally is the same as “The Elvis Files” so I felt comfortable with that date.
Jim dandy, I see what you mean about the ‘band-aid’ but I suspect it’s not and for some reason just on the picture. Here are a couple more from 9th April

We had a discussion a couple of years ago I think about these photos and I think we ended up dating them as December 1§4, 1968 cause that´s the date I have put on all of these photos.
I have two photos that were on sale on Ebay long time ago and they´re clearly from the same date. Both were Sandi Miller photos and on the back of one it says November 28, 1968 and on the other it saus December 20, 1968. In Behind The Image it says November 1968.
So it´s no easy task dating these photos and I´d really love to get the dates correct on them.
Let´s take a look at the ones I have from November and December 1968.
The photo dated 681219 is most likely wrong as "Hurry Home Elvis" says that Elvis came home to Memphis in the morning of December 19, 1968 (4:50 am) and that he stayed at home that night. The next night he went to the movies but wore different clothes than in the photo. So anybody wanna guess the date of the photo??
The same goes for the last four photos. I have no dates on any of those so any help would be appreciated.
Who is the karate-guy in the November 5 phot? he appears in a number of photos from late 1968 and it would be great to hear what he has to say about those nights.
Sincerely
Brian
